Available all year but perhaps best enjoyed in spring or summer, this hiking tour will take you out of the hustle and bustle of the city and up to some of the nicest views to be seen in Sapporo. Led by an English-speaking guide, you will be accompanied up and back down two mountains - Mt. Maruyama & Mt. Okurayama.

What To Expect

This tour will start at Sapporo Station in front of “Myomu” (The Circular Stone Structure) in front of the South Exit of Sapporo Station. Can not miss it! Please meet there at 8 a.m. Your guide will greet you there and after brief introductions and smiles we will be off on our wonderful tour.

Maruyama Hachijuhakksho Hiking Course

Arrive at Maruyama St and walk to the base of the hiking trail. Start our hike up the 225 meters (738 feet) Mt. Maruyama. Slowly (a comfortable pace) ascend to the summit of Mt. Maruyama.

For our first time in Japan, and our first full day in Japan, Sapporo was where we started. Withoutt any prior recommendation, we booked a day exploration tour with Snow Monkey, and when Scott turned up, on time at the agreed meeting place, I knew we were in good hands.... Scott's knowledge, and life experience of living in Japan was insightful, honest and informative in such a friendly way that we came away with more than just photos, but a real understanding of this country's culture and background to its present day place in the world. I would recommend Snow Monkey to anyone wanting to experience an open and honest tour of this fantastic part of Hokkaido.
