  I had a great time in the jungle. Our guides were very knowledgeable and took great care. But the terrain especially downhill can be a bit tricky for people with less balance or climbing ability.

  I’ve just finished a two-day, one-night trek with Sumatra Orangutan Trekking, and I honestly couldn’t recommend them more. From my very first point of contact with Dedek through to being dropped off at the airport, everything was seamless. Dedek was incredibly helpful, patiently answering all my questions and guiding me through the booking process. The trek itself was both challenging and breathtaking in the best possible way, and I loved every moment of it. Our guides, Ponidi and Cipta, deserve a special mention – they were wonderfully kind, extremely knowledgeable, and their experience in the jungle was truly impressive. Although we only spotted one semi-wild orangutan over the two days, we were lucky enough to see brown and black gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, macaques, hornbills, and countless colourful butterflies, which made the whole experience unforgettable. The food was delicious as well, and they catered for my vegan diet without any issues. If you’re planning a trip to North Sumatra, don’t hesitate to book with them – and if you can, spend more time than I did. You won’t regret it.

  Loved this experience from start to finish! Brema and Mehmet were the most amazing guides who told us much about the jungle while also maintaining a very funny and chill atmosphere. The hike was sometimes a bit challenging, but they made sure the tempo was accessible for everyone and used lots of breaks. I think they would even change the route based on the group they have. They were in contact with other groups to ensure the sightings of multiple orang utans, gibbons, hornbills and other monkeys. We had lots of food or fruit breaks, and were never hungry during the trip. At night, they provide entertainment too! Would most definely recommend to go to Sumatra to do this trip!!

  My family and I had an excellent experience with Sumatra orangutan Trekking. Everything from the pickup at the airport to the tour itself was great. We spent one night camping in the Jungle with two days of trekking. Our guides Memet and Donney were fantastic, sharing their extensive knowledge and love for the jungle with us. I would holy recommend using this company if you are considering a trip to the Sumatra.

  I spent two nights in the jungle and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Everything was perfectly organised, and during those two unforgettable days we met lot of orangutans and monkeys. The food was incredible — truly 10/10, I couldn’t have asked for more. The same company also arranged the rest of my travels around North Sumatra (incl transport, volcano trek etc ), and that was just great .   It's an amazing experience. The agency has a high level of efficiency and the guides are wonderful. They put a lot of food and it is a very authentic experience, while fun and respectful of the environment. I would repeat with them without thinking. A special hug to our guide Sab, Spanish speaking, English and of course Indonesian. A 10 for him and his entire team. Nice to have lived it!

  I did the trek as a solo traveler and everything was arranged down to the last detail — from the pick-up at a friends’ wedding to the drop-off at the airport. The communication was smooth and friendly, and I felt welcome and well cared for from the start. The trekking itself was fantastic: a nice balance between adventure, nature and relaxation. The guides, Brema and Rozi, made it personal and sincere, and you notice that the whole team works with passion for the jungle and its visitors.   It was a unique experience… seeing the animals in their natural environment is something that can’t really be put into words. I’d like to thank my guide Dani and his assistant, who were amazing: they explained so many things, supported us whenever we needed, and everything was organized down to the smallest detail. The food was delicious! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! 🙏🏼

  The 2 day jungle trek was amazing. We were lucky to see several Orang Utans on both days. Special thanks to our guides Syaipul and Roji who made it such a fun, interesting and safe experience! Also the food was delicious (vegetarian options available). Everything was very well organised and communication before, during and after the trek ran smoothly. I also booked transport from/to airport with the company which was convenient and proved reliable. I would totally recommend doing the trek with Sumatra Orang Utan Trekking. Thank you to the whole team for making this a great experience!

  Absolutely incredible experience! Seeing orangutans in their natural habitat was truly unforgettable, and the entire trek was very well organized. Our guides were knowledgeable, funny, and passionate about nature—they made us feel safe at all times and taught us so much about the jungle and wildlife. The trekking route was beautiful with stunning scenery, and we spotted several orangutans up close as well as other animals. The team really cared about ethical tourism and protecting the rainforest. The food was delicious, the camping spot was comfortable, and the atmosphere in the group was amazing. It was the perfect mix of adventure, learning, and connection to nature. I highly recommend this trek to anyone visiting Sumatra—it was one of the best experiences of my life! Special thanks to Ibnu and Rizky.
