Selous Game Reserve also known as Nyerere National Park is among the largest, most protected areas in Africa. The reserve is famous for the variety of species it inhabits, with animals such as elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, and many other species. As a participant in this reserve, you will experience exciting activities such as guided bush walks, boat safaris, and game-viewing. You will also enjoy a boat safari in the Rufiji River, where you will see a variety of birds, crocodiles, and hippos.

n the morning, around 7 AM, our driver will pick you up from the airport or hotel and transfer you to Selous National Park, this ride takes about 3 to 4 hours. On your way, you will enjoy the nature and people of Tanzania.
Nyerere National Park
Once you arrive at Nyerere National Park, you will check in at the lodge and have your hot lunch. You will rest for a bit, then you will ride an evening Boat Safari in the Rufiji River for 2-3 hours. This is one of the few places where you will be able to view the wildlife from the water. You will see a variety of birds, crocodiles, hippos, and more.

Selous Game Reserve
Game drives are usually the highlights of the safari. They allow you to see a wide variety of wildlife from the comfort of your 4x4 safari jeep. On this day, you will start the game drive early in the morning after breakfast at around 6:30 AM, where you will be searching for Giraffes, Hippos, Crocodiles, Lions, Elephants, and more. Nyerere National Park has the world’s largest population of rare African Wild Dogs. Your guide will introduce you to various African wildlife and share their knowledge of the wildlife and their habitats. You will eat your packed lunch box inside the park. Later in the afternoon, you will go back to African Safari Camp (or similar) for dinner and an overnight stay.

Selous Game Reserve
Walking safaris are a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smallest species that you would not have seen when in the jeep or boat. You will also come closer to big animals like Giraffes and Elephants. Early in the morning, you will start your walking Safari with an armed ranger and a tour guide for 2 – 3 hours, you will then return to your lodge for a breakfast. After breakfast, you will start your trip to Dar Salaam, with lunch on your way. When you arrive in Dar Es Salaam, you will be dropped off at your hotel/airport.

5.00We planned our trip with TanzAmerica Safaris Ltd and are very happy with our choice. Silas was attentive and responsive in preparing our 24-day trip with our three children (17, 15, and 11 years old). He recommended places to visit and accommodations, and managed to accommodate all our requests and constraints. Once there, we were immediately reassured by his professionalism and the care he had taken in preparing our extensive road trip. We were amazed by the safaris, especially the Selous (Nyerere) safaris, but also the Ruaha and Mikumi safaris (we recommend the Airbnb 'Le Chalet de Bianca', which was very welcoming there—thank you, Jessica!). Silas is a very good guide who is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of these parks, where he trained for several years. He answered our questions precisely. We chose to camp in the public campsites offered by the parks. Silas was accompanied by an assistant guide-cook, Yoannes. This duo took great care of the whole family. We ate very well throughout our trip. We had chosen not to fly and to discover the country by road (often very damaged tracks). Silas is a very good driver, very careful, which is reassuring. We changed our program on site and Silas adapted, finding us accommodation (trying to negotiate good prices). Silas's network is well-developed, which allows for great responsiveness. Our trip was exceptional. We thank Silas for his support throughout our stay. We had a wonderful meeting; he is a friend we left with regret.

5.00We had a fantastic trip to Nyerere park some months ago. Everything was just perfect. Not only the park itself which felt very privat and special, but also the team of TanzAmerica Safaris. Very service minded company. They replied very quickly to all our questions when we started to search for the best options. After we decided they organised the details and included all our extra wishes. We can strongly recommend them and will hopefully do another tour with them in the future. Especially big thanks to Silas who made the trip unforgettable, and a life time experience.

5.00We made a safari with the agency Trip Top (Jean-Philippe Dewez) and Silas as guide. What an experience! It was perfect, from start to finish: the organization was at the top thanks to Jean-Philippe who knew how to adapt to our desires and our budget, the safaris (boat, walk, car) incredible, the superb lodges and the icing on the cake, Silas was a great guide. He is friendly, respectful, he has an excellent knowledge of African flora and fauna but also knows Nyerere National Park at his fingertips. He took us as close as possible to the animals but never forced us. He always respected animals but found ways to see them as well as possible. We met a guide when we arrived and we left with a friend:) In short, THANK YOU! I recommend 1000% for an experience you will remember forever.
