Thingvellir National Park
Visit this UNESCO World Heritage site and walk Almannagjá, the impressive canyon between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Learn about the world’s first parliament, founded here in 930 AD.
Geysir
Discover Iceland’s renowned hot spring area with boiling mud pots, hot springs, and erupting geysers. One of them, Strokkur, erupts every few minutes, shooting boiling water up to 20 meters high – an awe-inspiring sight!
Gullfoss Falls
Marvel at Iceland’s most famous waterfall, known for its impressive double cascade and stunning views.
Laugarvatn
We also stop by a Geothermal Bakery to experience the magic of geothermal energy firsthand. We’ll make Icelandic bread using an old recipe, bury it in the warm ground to bake, then unearth it and taste the fresh bread. This is a unique Icelandic tradition!
Hvolsvollur
Unwind in the rooftop hot tub and sauna while waiting for the Northern Lights. The Midgard team will keep you updated on the forecast. You can even monitor the Northern Lights webcam from the comfort of your room. We scout for the Northern Lights every night, either at or around Midgard Base Camp. If the forecast is better elsewhere (within a 1-1.5-hour drive), we will embark on a guided tour. Included in the itinerary is one Northern Lights Evening Tour to one of the landmarks in the area, often a black sand beach, mountain, waterfall or even on top of a glacier, all depending on conditions.

Today, we head towards Vík to visit the dramatic and stunning Katla Ice Caves – a once-in-a-lifetime experience offering a rare glimpse into Iceland’s glacial beauty and dynamic volcanic landscape.
Reynisfjara Beach
We also visit Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, a must-see destination for its volcanic black sand, striking basalt columns, and powerful waves, offering an unforgettable glimpse into Iceland’s dramatic natural beauty. If time allows, we will visit other South Coast sites before returning to Midgard Base Camp.
Hvolsvollur
If the weather allows, we will witness the unique Aurora Borealis dance in the skies. The Midgard team will keep you updated on the forecast.

We will serve the renowned traditional Icelandic lamb. Of course, we will also have delicious vegan/vegetarian options.
We are going to our favorite place, Þórsmörk Mountain Reserve, in our modified 4×4 Super Jeeps. To access this area you need to cross glacial rivers, so it’s not for the normal rental car. Þórsmörk (Thorsmork) means the valley of Thor (the Norse god). We, Icelanders, sometimes say it is our ‘happy place‘. It’s got everything: volcanic landscapes, not one but three glaciers, fun glacier river crossings, and rich history (from folk, elves and trolls and all the way to Game of Thrones). The number of interesting places is abundant, both in Þórsmörk and on our way there. By visiting Þórsmörk, you get to explore landscapes that capture the essence of Iceland’s rugged interior. Interestingly, most travelers stick to the Ring Road along the coast and miss out on these breathtaking scenes that hold a special place in the hearts of Icelanders.

On our way to Þórsmörk we will have the chance to admire the stunning and infamous volcano Eyjafjallajökull.

Oh, the beautiful Auroras! As always, the Midgard team will keep the group updated on the Northern Lights forecast for the night.

Solheimajokull Glacier
Today, we are going on a glacier adventure at Sólheimajökull Glacier. We will embark on a glacier ice walk, which is a unique experience allowing you to explore the glacier’s stunning ice formations, deep crevasses, and striking blue ice up close. Your professional Midgard guide will provide insights into the glacier’s formation, the impact of volcanic activity, and the effects of climate change. No prior experience is necessary; our guide will conduct a safety briefing to ensure everyone’s well-being.
Solheimajokull Glacier
One of the highlights of visiting Sólheimajökull is its glacier lagoon, a serene body of water at the base of the glacier, which offers impressive views of the glacier’s edge and the surrounding landscape. The lagoon’s tranquil waters reflect the glacier’s beauty, providing a unique perspective on this natural wonder. It’s a perfect spot for photography and a quiet moment of reflection.
Skogafoss
We also visit two of the most famous South Coast waterfalls: Skógafoss, known for its 60-meter drop and misty rainbows
Seljalandsfoss
We'll visit Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the waterfall for a breathtaking view from within a natural grotto. Please note, sometimes it’s not safe do go behind the waterfall. Your guide will assess if it’s safe to walk behind the waterfall during your visit.
Gljufrabui Waterfalls
We’ll also explore the hidden gem, Gljúfrabúi Waterfall, a lesser-known but equally stunning cascade.

5.00Northern Lights Trip exceeded my expectations in every way. The Midgard family team gave us a warm welcome and are passionate about the jaw dropping sights of Iceland as well as their company ethos and values. Our guide Carlos, was funny, knowledgeable and passionate about his adopted homeland. He looked after us all well making sure not a minute was wasted. He took us to see Golden Circle highlights as well as much quieter locations that could only be reached by 4x4 super jeeps. The star of the tour however is breathtaking Iceland itself. The contrasts and wonders are a feast for the eyes. It was a great experience and as a solo traveller I was very lucky as I got to share it with a very lovely group.

5.00We left Midgard today after spending 4 days and 3 nights there for the Northern Lights Adventure. Words cannot express what an incredible experience we had there. As a family of 3 with a 17 year old daughter, this trip was a dream. Everything they do there is done with love, care, and “a good mood”. Being welcomed and sent on our way by the oh, so lovely Gina truly made us feel like we were being welcomed into her home. The entire staff was beyond friendly and kind. We were incredibly lucky to be put into a group with 7 fantastic people. Everyone was easy going and eager for an adventure. A truly lovely group of people to spend our time with. But the absolute cherry on top was our tour guide, Carlos. With grace, humour, and an encyclopedic knowledge of everything to do with Iceland geography, geology, culture, and history, he spent 4 very full days introducing us to must-sees and hidden gems around southern Iceland. With a close eye on the weather forecast he was constantly pivoting the order of our events not only within days but between them to make sure that we had the best time and experience possible. He was constantly throwing in something extra for us to see or do when the opportunity presented itself. Midgard is truly so very lucky to have him within their family circle! We were so lucky to have him as our guide! I could have never planned such a complete trip with our family on my own. I am so grateful for this experience!

5.00We recently spent 10 days in Iceland and loved absolutely everything we did and saw. However, my ultimate favorite was the 4 days we spent with Midgard Adventures. 4 days of breathtaking wonder, everyday different. They take such amazing care of their guests and truly treated us as family. Our rooms were spotless and so comfortable, the food was beyond belief and our guides simply fantastic in every way! We will definitely be returning!!

5.00We joined a 4-day Northern Lights adventure, and it was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. The tour was exceptionally well organized, and everyone we met along the way was incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. Our guide, Thorir, was fantastic, knowledgeable, approachable, and a pleasure to spend time with. Each day was filled with stunning landscapes, and it’s hard to say what impressed us most, the places we saw, the people, or the food. Every meal was excellent, and staying at the basecamp as part of the all-inclusive setup made the whole experience very convenient and completely stress-free. Although the tour lasted just four days, it gave us an incredible collection of memories that we will carry with us for a lifetime. We can wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone looking for something truly special and unforgettable.

5.00Highly recommend! Alessandro picked us up along with eight others in Reykjavik and showed us the beautiful countryside, waterfalls and hidden gems. We also hiked into ice caves, glaciers, went to remote stops on 4 x 4 super jeeps and much more. So nice to stay at the Midgard base camp for the entire stay. We all departed in the morning returning for dinner. All meals are included and the Midgard staff (Gina) was consistently checking in to see if they could make our Iceland experience any better. We did eat our meals with the other guests on our tour which made us all feel connected. We even went to Aldi’s home for a visit so we could experience their lifestyle! Each night a staff member drove us to a location in order to see the Northern Lights. 10 out of 10 trip! Thanks for the great memories Midgard Staff!!!

5.00Midgard isn’t just a place to stay, it’s an experience that feels like being with your family on another planet. My initial plan was to stay three nights (I did the 4 day Northern Lights tour) and it was so wonderful that I decided to stay two more days. I feel like it was the best decision I ever made. They have amazing tours, delicious food, landscapes that seem otherworldly and, above all, the best guides and the best care. Gina and Olga made me feel at home, and Ragnar, Disco, Magnus and Palmi were exceptional guides. Without hesitation, I would return to Midgard many times.

5.00Omg we was in Iceland 14 days and this was the best time we had for 4 days . Every adventure was amazing and the tour guides was super amazing . Was so sad to leave we had two amazing tour guides and was in tears when I had to say goodbye . U need to book with them . Everything thing from good to adventures . U won’t be disappointed
