The experience was awesome, and the guide very nice ! So much to see, a bit tired but it was amazing… We are just disappointed about the cancellation of the hot air balloon, due to bad weather, but a part from that, no regret at all !

Highly recommend taking a Nile cruise, because it is the most time efficient way to see a ton of ornate, intricate ruins. We were amazed by how different each temple could be - even though it was challenging at times to wake up so early every day, we found it well worth it to take in each ruin. In terms of the boat we were on specifically, the Nile Jewel, it was good value for the price. The rooms were small but received housekeeping daily, and the boat staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. The food was alright - particular highlights were the Egyptian food night and the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables available. Any beverages purchased incurred additional (very overpriced) costs, so we highly recommend going to the grocery store ahead of time to stock up on whatever drinks you need! Also, note that WiFi is at an additional fee - we didn’t purchase any, but heard the quality was not very good. In terms of our guide, Mohamed Gobran - first, I want to say that we visited in the middle of Ramadan, and he was fasting. I have no idea how he was able to share such detailed historical facts and keep things on track, in the scorching heat, with no water. So, I’m incredibly impressed with that, and want to caveat the following comments by saying I am sure things might be different in a non-holiday month. Mohamed helped make the visits to the ruins as efficient as possible, helping to arrange transport to and from and making sure we didn’t have to wait in the ticket lines. As our guide, we wished he were more open to questions. He had extremely long, repetitive spiels at every temple/tomb, and it was hard to stay focused or learn much new information. Once he finished his talks, he didn’t open up space for questions, which left us wondering how comfortable he might be with English. It’s also necessary to note our group size, about 30, which I’m sure is one of the reasons why the tour was so affordable, and also made it harder for Mohamed to be attentive to everyone’s needs. Many other groups we saw were half the size of ours, or even smaller. All in all, we definitely recommend a Nile cruise to be able to take in all the sites with the least driving time. This one is extremely budget friendly, which is hard to say no to! I wish I could offer another option cheaper with a different tour guide, and it might be worth doing a bit more research to find another choice.
