The careful reconstruction at the current site carefully completed, painstakingly preserving the original appearance and layout of the complex and even landscaping the island to match its former location. Philae rose to prominence during the Ptolomaic Dynasty as the center of the cult of the goddess Isis. This complex was actually one of the last remaining places where the ancient religion survived after the arrival of Christianity in Egypt, officially closing only in 551 AD. Early Christians then used the main temple on the island as a church. - Drive back to your Nile cruise and overnight in Aswan.

We travelled on The King of Thebes, the ship was lovely and clean and the staff were very attentive. The food was excellent. They really packed a lot in, every day was a very early start, sometimes even 3.30am! Our archeologist, Ahmed Shawky Ali was excellent, he made the trip interesting and super organised. He took care of everything for us and always made us feel safe. He made the trip really fun.

Lovely cruise on the Nile filled to the brim with activities but also some chill time. I enjoyed the views and the temples and learning about ancient Egyptian kings, queens and gods. The tour does include a few shopping stops to a spice shop in Aswan, a perfume and an alabaster shop in Luxor. Enjoy the presentations and free drinks but don't feel obliged to buy anything. The guide Mohamed Gobran handled entry tickets and tips for the crew. Remember, these are not included but the guide will give you the total amount and you can pay cash or card. The only tip not included in this is the tip for the guide himself which will be up to you. Everything is as described. Mohamed will send you the schedule the day before. If there are any changes, he'll let you know as soon as possible.

The boat is big and spacious. The food is very good and the rooms comfortable. It is very well organized, although things only start moving at the last minute. I heard nothing from them until the day before departure. Prices are reasonable by comparison to others. It felt like a luxury experience. Mohamed Gobram made an excellent guide and walked us through the many sites with great enthusiasm. While more expensive, it might be better to get the Luxor –> Aswan route as Aswan –> Luxor covers a quarter of the length and two of the temples at night.

We had an excellent experience on the Nile cruise. The guidance of Mohamed Gobran made all the difference: he demonstrated a great knowledge of Egyptian history, clear explanations, and very good English, which made all the visits even more interesting. In addition, he was always very friendly, available, and attentive. The cruise was comfortable, well-organized, and at a good pace, despite the days starting early. Overall, it was a very positive experience and clearly recommended.
