The Descent of the Sella in canoe or kayak (canoes), is among the star activities within the adventure sport in Asturias. Very well known thanks to the International Descent of the Sella, a sporting event that every first Saturday in August (after the 2nd of that month) brings together athletes from all over the world. The activity invites you to get on a Kayak or Canoe to, in a totally safe way, go down the river from our facilities to one of the arrival points that we have enabled. It takes place on the section of the river between Arriondas and Llovio (16 km) in Ribadesella - although we offer you the option of making shorter sections, which you can choose during the descent, such as the Toraño bridge (7 km), Llordón ( 11 km) and the already mentioned one of Llovio. From each of these points we will transport you in vehicles back to the starting point. Born in the Picos de Europa the Sella, this low section takes place in a dreamlike landscape between meadows and riverside vegetation with Atlantic-type trees and associated fauna, among which the most representative is salmon, but it is accompanied by a great number of birds, and mammals like the otter.

We spent a fantastic morning canoeing with my two children aged 9 and 5. From the start, the team was very welcoming and attentive. The little boy was with Miguel, one of the monitors, throughout the tour, and I can’t help but thank him for his patience and professionalism. My son felt safe, accompanied and happy, he enjoyed it so much! At first we had a hard time finding the rhythm – it’s not that easy to row together! – but Miguel encouraged us at all times, without pressure, with a lot of patience and empathy. At first there was a school group, but then the atmosphere became calmer and we were able to connect with the calm surroundings. The tour is beautiful, with spectacular natural views and moments of genuine disconnection. An ideal family activity, well organized and with a team of ten. We will repeat without a doubt!

One of the best memories in Spain! Staff and service is credible very knowledgeable and we felt safe the entire way. I would say the river is fast flowing in few areas and probably level one or level two rapids in some places. After the first stop most people bail out therefore would recommend to do the entire journey which is a lot more peaceful and very scenic. The kayaks are in good condition and very comfortable. Highly recommend this Tour!

The Sella River is so picturesque and the kayaking was superb. It's a 0-1 'rapids' section of the river, so for us two older folx with minimal kayaking experience, it was perfect. There are 3 options for exiting the river depending on your stamina. A basic picnic (meh) is provided. This is not a guided experience but they do give you all the info needed to help you feel safe. Highly recommend! [But skip the picnic.]

It is a well run tour and efficient, however, it is very popular so was very busy when we went. We did have a great time but it was a bit like bumper cars (in kayaks) at some points.
