There was a time when Dhaka was called a “Bahanno Bazar Ar Tepanno Goli” (52 Markets and 53 Alleys). The naming of the areas and localities of Dhaka, a city of 400 years, is impressive indeed. From Boots, Shaheber Goli to Bhooter goli, or from Grand Area to Gandaria has some history.
In this walk, we will explore Old Dhaka, many hidden gems, old roads, and bazar. Also, we will explore some old houses and meet local people in Old Dhaka. This walk has included with complimentary local and unique breakfast near an old cafe in Old Dhaka.

The Roy's in charge of Lost panorama and our guide for the tour is very knowledgeable about the area and personally invested in spreading and sharing the knowledge about the lost heritage of Dhaka. They personally care a lot and knows every nook and cranny of the city and their care shows throughout the careful planning of the tour route. Even though I spent almost 3 hours with them, it seemed too short a time.

This tour was like no other. Filled with interesting facts about the history of the city, Suman takes you from a busy street to calm alleyways that would not be accessible to ordinary tourists. In addition, during the tour you get to experience local breakfast, tasty treats, delicious tea, see monkeys on the street, and experience the most wonderful views of the city. Suman knows every nook and cranny of Old Dhaka and his passion for the history of the city is remarkable. A true gem!

A colleague and I had one free day to explore Dhaka while in Bangladesh this week, and we're so grateful that a friend of a friend recommended Lost Panorama's walking tours. It was such a great way to get to know a really vibrant and historic part of the city! We walked through and by so many alleys and markets; found hidden treasure after hidden treasure; enjoyed snacks, tea, and great food; came across festivals, celebrations, vats of food being prepared, monkeys climbing buildings, the sounds and (strong ginger-garlic) smells of daily commerce; explored old houses and rooftop and river views, etc, etc, and learned so much. It was the best day (!) and Dhaka now has a forever place in my heart. Suman is the kindest person, most knowledgeable guide, and his passion for remembering and preserving the history of this great city is remarkable. I highly recommend the tour and definitely hope to myself be able to come back for another one!

Suman does not offer mere tours, you can easily find tours and guides. Being a local, and having grown up and lived in the areas visited Suman instead offers a real insiders experience, full of activity and it enables all who take part to experience the real Dhaka and other historical places. Without Suman's help and assistance we would have certainly missed so much of what there is to see and enjoy.

I have taken a lot of city tours in my years of travel, and this is hands down my favorite. Suman and Lopa expertly navigated my two friends and me through the crowded and hectic streets of Old Dhaka, showing us hidden gems and sharing with us the fascinating history of the city. The late breakfast they took us too was amazing, and they patiently waited while we stopped to take (too many!) photos and pet some of the friendlier street dogs. When they heard me telling one of the dogs that I wished I had some food to give her, they even went to a nearby vendor to buy some crackers for me to offer up. A small thing, but those are often what makes a big difference in the overall experience. I highly recommend this tour company.

My friends and I did this walking tour with Suman this week and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in exploring Old Dhaka. He and his colleague were on time, and gave us an overview of what to expect before we began walking. Both he and his colleague speak English well and are very knowledgable about the history of Bangladesh. The beginning of the tour took us through small alleyways, markets and by a beautiful pond used for washing clothes & bathing. We walked for about an hour and a half before stopping at a small, local canteen that served a delicious traditional breakfast. This meal might have been my favorite that I had throughout my entire stay in Bangladesh. Afterward, we kept walking - exploring Hindu temples, various buildings dating back 400 years, mosques, etc. Suman and his colleague expertly led us through the hectic traffic and kindly waited for us as we took our pictures. We even got lucky and spotted a couple monkeys and a mongoose in the city. At the end, Suman helped us call an uber to take us back to our hotel. He and his colleague were incredibly friendly, lovely people and it was a pleasure spending the morning with them. They are clearly passionate about their city, its heritage, and helping develop tourism within the city. Could not recommend this tour enough if you are interested in seeing the inner workings of Old Dhaka.
