Pre-tour and organization. We arranged our private tour with Valeh who is the owner of VLA Travel. Valeh could not have been more helpful with our tour arrangements. Valeh allowed us to choose our 4-star hotels and rooms which we paid for separately. We were impressed with the organization of our tour. There were no issues at all with the organization Guide We were very fortunate to have Valeh as tour guide for the 7 days. Valeh is the owner of VLA tours and a Professor of Archaeology who teaches part time at Baku University. He is very knowledgeable about all facets of Azerbaijan culture and history. He is also an experienced guide, personable, helpful and considerate. Always on time. Vehicle provided was a Mercedes minibus with a very good driver which was very comfortable. Hotels We were happy with the hotels we chose being Radisson Hotel in Baku, Nohur Hotel in Gabala, and Sheki Hotel, in Sheki. Tour Content Tour content was great and most interesting. Baku is wonderful city to visit. Easily spend several days there. Great museums and the night tour is a must. You get to see the city and the Flame towers all lit up. Cleanest city we have ever visited (have visited 84 countries). Very modern with some great museums and cultural centers. Sheki and Gobustan were also good places to visit. The restaurants he brought us to were all very good. We were able try out all sorts of local foods. We also went to places not mentioned in the itinerary – like markets. We felt very safe throughout the country and found the locals to be very friendly and hospitable. We certainly recommend VLA Travel for a visit to Azerbaijan.
