Menelik palace
It is a historical place where Emperor Menelik II resided and built his palace, when he came from Ankober and founded Addis Ababa. It is considered a sacred mountain and has many monasteries. Mount Entoto is also the location of a number of celebrated churches, including Saint Raguel and Saint Mary.[1] The mountain is densely covered by eucalyptus trees that were imported from Australia during the reign of Menelik II, and mostly planted during Emperor Haile Selassie's reign. Thus, it is sometimes referred to as the "lung of Addis Ababa". The forest on the mountain is an important source of firewood for the city. It was also a source of building material in earlier times. durations: 1 hour

We took a half day excursion with Yonas and we really enjoyed it. We had only limited time in Addis Ababa but thank to our amazing tour guide we managed to see so many things. He really took a good care of us and explained a lot about the culture and history. I would certainly come back again.

We stayed only 1 day in Addis, so wanted to see the most of it. We had an amazing time here, organised with Yonas. We saw so many beautiful places, it was beyond my expectation, the city is so beautiful, rich in history, nature, even we managed to see so many different animals in Unity park (was my favorite). Highly recommended!!

Amazing tour! Yonas is amazing! Highly recommend this tour, he is responsable and knows a lot about his country. One think that I really like is that we spoke a bit and than he personalized the tour for me, I really appreciate. I tried different tours in Ethiopia but this one was definitely the best. I like it because he know all the best spots and I like to take pictures. Also I mentioned him that I was interested in rastafari and he took me to see the Lion of Judah and told me a lot about Haile Selassie and Rastafari culture.

I had the absolute best experience in Addis Ababa thanks to Yonas. Out of my entire time in Ethiopia, the day he showed me around the city was easily the highlight of my trip. Yonas is an incredible guide – friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about his city. From the moment we met he treated me like a friend rather than just a tourist. He showed me parts of Addis Ababa I never would have discovered on my own and shared so much about the culture, history, and everyday life. What really stood out was how well he looked after me the whole day. I always felt comfortable, welcome, and completely taken care of. By the end of the day it honestly felt like I had made a mate for life. If you’re visiting Addis Ababa and want a real local experience, I cannot recommend Yonas enough. 12/10 Top Dude

My family and I had an incredible experience exploring Addis Ababa. During the tour, I learned so many new things about Ethiopia, its history, culture, and the beauty of the city itself. Yonas was extremely welcoming and kind, and over the course of the tour he truly became part of our family. He gave us the full local experience—far beyond a basic tour. We were able to try authentic Ethiopian food that locals commonly enjoy, which I absolutely loved. Experiencing the true ethnic cuisine made the trip even more special and memorable. The views of Addis Ababa were absolutely beautiful, from the city scenery to the monuments we visited. We even traveled outside the city and up into the mountains, where we were able to see a breathtaking full view of Addis Ababa from above. One of the highlights was also visiting the oldest restaurant on the East Coast of Africa, which was an amazing and unique experience. Yonas was a joy to be around the entire time and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment. Honestly, I couldn’t have been more satisfied with the experience. Thanks to Yonas, my family and I didn’t feel like tourists—we truly felt like locals. I highly recommend touring with Yonas to anyone visiting Addis Ababa who wants a real, welcoming, and unforgettable experience. I truly can’t wait to visit again in the future!

This tour was everything it was advertised to be—and more. My daughter, best friend and I scheduled it during a planned 16-hour layover in Addis Ababa, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made during our travels Yonas was in contact with us prior to our arrival and was incredibly accommodating when we had to change our pickup location. He handled everything smoothly and without hesitation, which immediately set the tone for a stress-free experience. Throughout the day, Yonas made sure we were truly immersed in the culture of Ethiopia. From the coffee experience to the food, markets, villages, and agriculture, we were able to see and understand the heartbeat of Addis Ababa. But what stood out the most was the connection to the people. Yonas didn’t just show us places—he helped us experience the culture. By the end of the day, it honestly felt like we had spent time with family rather than on a tour. If you’re looking for professionalism, authenticity, and a meaningful taste of Ethiopia, I highly recommend booking with Yonas. He made our short layover unforgettable.
