Mount Entoto
we will drive uphill to Entoto, which once was Emperor Minilik II’s permanent camp. Driving the hill there is a considerable drop in altitude and the air is filled with the scent of the Eucalyptus trees which cover the area. From the top, there is a panoramic view of the capital and surrounding countryside. Please note that entrance fee to the Entoto park is not included, If you wish to enter the park the cost will be 9USD/Person durations: 35 minutes
Menelik palace
It is a historical place where Emperor Menelik II resided and built his palace, when he came from Ankober and founded Addis Ababa. It is considered a sacred mountain and has many monasteries. Mount Entoto is also the location of a number of celebrated churches, including Saint Raguel and Saint Mary.[1] The mountain is densely covered by eucalyptus trees that were imported from Australia during the reign of Menelik II, and mostly planted during Emperor Haile Selassie's reign. Thus, it is sometimes referred to as the "lung of Addis Ababa". The forest on the mountain is an important source of firewood for the city. It was also a source of building material in earlier times. durations: 1 hour

My husband and I were visiting Addis Ababa for the very first time and sought out this tour as a great way to introduce us to the major sites. Our guide, Alem, went above and beyond to make sure we saw everything we wanted. He was an incredible guide and everything was prompt and went so smoothly. We particularly loved his relationships with other local members of the community, our lunch, coffee, and the Merkato. If you don’t have a lot of time in the city, this tour is absolutely perfect!

I met Jonas when I was visiting a coffee bar. He was then touring another guest from France. He offered to take me to a traditional restaurant (Yod Abyssinia) which was a great experience. I decided to hire him for the rest of the sightseeing the next day and didn’t regret it a minute. He fully catered to itinerary to my wishes. We spend time on the mountain overlooking Addis Ababa, we went to the Mercato market to spots I would never find myself, a local clothes market, visit the best local coffee bars, etc. Highlight was a visit to a church that has the tomb of Menelik II of Ethiopia. The church was closed, but Jonas managed to get the local guard to open it for me and visit the tomb. All in all a great day and worth every dollar if you want to see some in depth highlights of Addis Ababa!

Experience in Addis Ababa national museum Alem's WhatsApp +25113396183 E-mail: [email protected] Before visiting the museum, I traveled northward all the way from southern Ethiopia, where most of what I saw was tribal culture and customs—this made me once fix my impression of the country as a "tribal society". It wasn’t until I stepped into the National Museum of Ethiopia that this inherent perception was completely reversed: this land actually holds such profound cultural heritage. It is the first country in Africa to create its own writing system, and more importantly, it has never been colonized. precious fossil of Lucy ("Grandmother of Humanity"), to the complete course of human evolution. What’s more, he even helped us spot traces of ancient Greece and ancient Egypt in the exhibits—wonderful marks left by cultural and religious exchanges, and this sense of connection across time and space was particularly striking. During the nearly one-hour tour, Alem connected history and civilization with his professional perspective. We not only got to see the precious remains of Lucy, the "ancestor of mankind", but also gained an in-depth understanding of Ethiopia’s little-known cultural depth. I truly recommend everyone to visit this museum and be sure to ask Alem to be your guide—he will show you a more three-dimensional and vivid Ethiopia that goes far beyond the "tribal impression".
