The Campanile
Campanile Drive-By While on your journey, you'll have the opportunity to pass by the magnificent Campanile. This imposing structure marks the gateway to the railway station and docks on Strand Street. Impossible to overlook, the Campanile is a living testament to the region's rich history. Erected to commemorate the arrival of the 1820 British Settlers in Port Elizabeth, who landed at Strand Street, the Campanile is a striking example of Italian architecture. Its free-standing design adds to its grandeur and leaves an indelible mark on the landscape.
Sundays River Valley
As we continue our journey, you'll catch a glimpse of the remarkable Alexandria Dune Field, a true marvel of South Africa's natural wonders. This vast coastal dune field is the largest and least disturbed in the southern hemisphere, offering an unparalleled experience. Stretching over 80 kilometres in length and up to 5 kilometres in width, covering an impressive surface area of about 15,800 hectares, it's a dynamic system where sand is continuously reshaped by the wind, creating an ever-changing landscape. The Alexandria Dune Field offers a unique sense of solitude, boundless horizons, and spatial freedom, making it South Africa's prime example of a pristine coastal dune field. With approximately 375,000 cubic tons of sand being deposited into the dune fields each year, it's a mesmerizing and perpetually evolving natural spectacle that should not be missed.

Great sightings of elephants, zebras, antelopes, warthogs and other animals. Van was comfortable but couldn’t hear our guide - he needed to use his microphone instead of only talking to the passenger in the front. Lunch and shopping was very good!

Met our expectations. Plenty of elephants. Vehicle does not allow enough passengers to obtain the best photo experience. Would be better to have an open vehicle. Not enough bathroom breaks. Lunch was fantastic.

For us it was kind of complicated to get a overview about the pick up station or the meeting points and the duration of the trip. But as soon as we booked it, the communication was quick und very good. At least our guide Gary (best man!) was a wonderful Tour Guide, gave us lots of very interesting informations and was just very friendly. He tried his absolutly best to create a unforgettable day for us! It was incredible!! Thanks Gary!

Despite the delay of the cruise ship docking, we were allowed to wait at the port. They contacted us via chat and we were able to reach the waiting area with peace of mind. I don't understand English well enough, but he taught me how to guide slowly and carefully. It was a tour in a light rain, but I was grateful to be able to find and teach so many animals. The Viking steak for lunch was so delicious that I couldn't eat it with a volium of it. The dessert cake was delicious, and the forehand coffee was really delicious. Thank you for the good memories.

Thank you for a wonderful day. We had a perfect guide and driver. The minibus was in perfect condition. The food was good, even for us vegetarians. Addo Elephant Park did not disappoint us. We've seen a lot of animals. Communication with into tours also worked perfectly. 👍👍👍👍👍

Overall, the tour was great. But there were a few negatives. Starting off, the connection was very disorganized. We met up right away, but the staff we met up with did not seem to know what to do. At one point we were told to wait in a spot only to be forgotten and we had to search again for someone with our tour company. Apparently some cars were not allowed back to the ship being blocked by security. Eventually that was cleared up. Second issue: We were expecting an open safari type vehicle. Instead we were put in a rented van not made for off road operations. Third issue: The shock absorbers always bottomed out on bumps, and the driver was driving pretty fast. So it was painful on the behind. Fourth problem: Alex, the tour guide, kept turning off the air conditioning, because he did not want us getting cold. But most people had jackets if needed, and in the back, we had no air current when he turned it off. He had an open window giving him plenty of air. So we were always yelling for him to turn it on. Most of the time, he could not hear us. Fifth problem: Our guide Alex knew nothing about birds and he would just drive on even when we had some interesting bird sightings. He seemed interested only in big mammals. But overall, the tour was good because Alex did guide us to elephants, warthogs, zebras, ostriches, meerkats, water buffalo, and antelope species like Kudus, Nyala, Eland and Roan. His commentary about the animals was good and he had good rapport with all the tourists, lots of joking and sharing about his culture. It was a bit informal and unprofessional for me, but others enjoyed it.

The Addo Elephant Park All-Inclusive Day Safari from Port Elizabeth was an absolute blast! I had such a great time seeing all sorts of animals—elephants, birds, zebras, you name it. The pickup was right on time, which I appreciated, and our guide, Gary, was just fantastic. Gary really knew his stuff and was super passionate about the park and its wildlife. He shared all sorts of cool facts about the animals' behaviors and the park itself. It was obvious he loved his job, and his enthusiasm rubbed off on all of us. The best part was definitely getting up close and personal with the animals. We saw so many elephants—it was incredible! And the birds were stunning, too. Plus, spotting zebras roaming around was a real treat. What made the experience even better was Gary's down-to-earth approach. He didn't just give us a bunch of facts; he really helped us connect with the environment and appreciate the beauty of it all. It was a reminder of how important it is to take care of our planet and its inhabitants. Overall, if you're looking for a fun and genuine wildlife adventure, I highly recommend the Addo Elephant Park Day Safari. With efficient pickup, a passionate guide like Gary, and incredible animal sightings, it's an experience you won't soon forget.

Back in Oct, 2023 we signed up for the tour through Into Tours titled Addo Elephant Park Full-day Safari & Shore Excursion from Harbour. It was scheduled for Feb 16, 2023 with a start time of 9 AM with pick-up on the dock for an 8 hour tour. I received a message confirming that we were scheduled. In December I received another message from the provider Janina from Into Tours just thanking us for booking with them. We too were also looking forward to the tour since it was our first time in South Africa. The next communication I received was on Feb. 14. It was a confirmation of our tour. There was no indication that there was a change from our original confirmation. The next morning we were on the dock at 8:45. The provider was not there. I looked at the “what’sapp” application on my phone and saw messages from Janina from that morning saying she tried calling me and and reminding me of the tour. I received a second message saying that the pickup was adjusted to 8:00. Only than did we realize why we missed the tour and that there had been a change made. I looked at the calls on my phone and there were none listed from her. I tried calling the number associated with the confirmation but there was no answer. I’m not sure when the decision was made by Into Tours to change the start time, but sending out a confirmation and not highlighting the change in time is not enough especially when it is the start time of the tour. I've also written the Into Tours requesting a refund. We have also emailed the tour company but still waiting for a response. Star

We really saw a lot of elephants with family and babies. The tour was indicated to see the big 5 but you practically see only elephants. Good we had another safari at Richard's bay where we saw the rest. But for elephants at the top.
