In this tour we will visit the wonderful town of Alberobello (also known as the city of trulli) and Matera
Alberobello was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996 because it is an exceptional example of building construction with prehistoric techniques that have survived intact and are still functioning in the modern world.
A "Trullo" is in fact a small limestone house, made with dry stone walls, roughly worked limestone blocks collected from nearby fields and topped with a conical roof.
Souvenir shops, B&Bs, bars and restaurants will brighten up your stay in Alberobello.
Matera is the city of the Sassi, the original urban nucleus, developed from natural caves dug into the rock and subsequently modeled into increasingly complex structures within two large natural amphitheatres that are the Sasso Caveoso and the Sasso Barisano.

Great organized, it was easy to walk the route alone and find the bus back. Enough time available in both villages.

Outstanding tour! Well organized and punctual. Definitely worth paying slightly more to have a live personal guide. Michaela met us at Alberobello; she was very knowledgeable, explaining the history and architecture of the trulli houses. She gave us good recommendations for food before the 1 hr 45 min drive to Matera. We did not know what to expect in Matera, and this turned out to be a magnificent tour! Cossimo, a native of Matera, provided us so much info and history about the city and stassi, He guided us through the historic sites, which we would not have completed if we had traveled alone. Our driver, Daniel, was wonderful, so friendly and professional; riding on the bus allowed us to observe the views of the area without worrying about traffic and directions. Overall, memorable and exceeded our expectations!

It was a smooth journey overall, but the MUSIC ON BUS IS TOO LOUD. It was a full day trip and would be nice to have some quiet time to rest on the bus instead of listening to the very loud music. Also tiring to talk over the music with my partner on the bus. I hope this can be improved for other travellers in the future.

I was really looking forward to g forward to this excursion. To be honest Alberobello was a let down. As beautiful and unique as it is. The signage was very poor ( now I could have missed signs). There were quite a few tour buses so plenty of people even the 3rd week of October. Not many places were open for viewing. We did end up getting turned around even with google maps because of all the road construction. We stopped to ask directions and this kind soul drove us to where we wWe to meet the bus 🥰 Matera was absolutely stunning so Incredibly interesting and our tour guide knew his history. Should have used a guide in Alberobello as well Overall this is a tour worth taking AND our driver DANIELE was amazing

This was a very exciting tour, although we were on our own touring Alberobello, I haven't seen anything like it. The small and very uniquely built houses with its cone shape roofs, it was an amazing view. Very narrow and wildly going streets leading to all other parts of the town, this was walking in the a different world all together. And Matera was even more exciting the cave city, our guide was very friendly and amazingly knowledgeable about the history of the city and its structure. we have seen things with him I did not expected to see. The views were breathtaking. This was an amazing tour.

Excellent day tour of Alberobello and Matera by coach with very good guides at both locations. Comfortable coach and a very friendly driver Danielle (hopefully spelt that correct) who was very good at informing us whre to come back and at what time to be back at the bus. At Alberobello we also had a very good olive tasting guide including information about the various types of olive oils and their purposes at a specialist shop. So impressed we bought some oil, and specialist buscuits to take back to the UK. Matera was absolutely an fantastic experience, and guide (a local resident) was very friendly and informative guide. Highly recommend this tour. The communication about the tour in advance was also good. Thoroughly recommend to see two of the main attractions in the Puglia area.
