  The entire experience was brilliant from start to finish. Ebby, our tour guide and driver arrived on time and was so knowledgeable of all things Cape Town on our way there. I genuinely learnt so much about this city, things I wouldn’t have known had I not gone on this trip. We encountered animals up close during the safari and the buffet was great too. Can’t recommend it enough. Again, special shout out to Ebby who was brilliant throughout. The the small things that make the big difference.

  We can not rave enough about our tour guide Collen! He was simply amazing!!! We could not have asked for a more professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and fun tour guide! From start to finish he was great! He picked us up on time even arrived early to be promoted and he drove us the 2.5 hour journey very safe driver which with our 4 children with us we appreciated. The drive he taught us all facts and info on the safari as well as what we were seeing along the drive. He is very experienced with animals and could answer everyone’s questions and more! He brought us to the buffet lunch and ate with us, the food and venue at the reserve were delightful we all had seconds! The local wine was superb and complimentary throughout the day! While we waited to go a few minutes on our tour I felt safe to even have go take our 6 year old son to go look at the grounds in the resort area which he loved his new “Uncle” Collen!!! Collen got us situated with our safari tour guide, told us the best places to sit on the safari truck which is the back and even took photos for us! He delivered us safely to our pick up point with the same courtesy that he brought us with. I eve let my cell phone and chopard reading glasses on the byour van and he brought them bsck to us…going out of his way his way to be kind! If I hate to rage the safari and tour guide Collen out of 10 I would give a 100! Thank you for the dave tire of a lifetime! Highly recommend!! What I do not recommend however is the booking company who we went through on Viator called Beyond Africa. First we received an email from Amy sending us info on a tour that was g our tour and wrong info to which she emailed back that it was a mistake on her part to send the wrong info about another tour…that’s when we should have know. That Amy didn’t have all of her ducks in a row…Then they were totally unprofessional, rude and condescending and not even willing to help our family out when they texted us 10 hours before our tour that they would not be picking us up from our lodging that it was out of their pick up zone…even though this has been booked for months and confirmed with tvst exact pick up location. They told us 10 hours before that the lo k up zone had changed and we would have to rent a car for our family of 6 or take Two Ubers 55km away. We pleased with them that this was unfair and they basically hung up o my husband and wrote a text saying we will be responsible to getting our own transportation to the pick up location of their choice. This blew our minds as one of the reasons we picked this company was because it offered private transportation…it’s even in the title of the tour. After we complained to Viator the manager of Beyond Africa said we would not be compensated and even sneakily changed the verbiage as I have screen shots from earlier in the day stating the pick up area…our villa confirmed, she then changed the write up to say pick up within 10km of the meeting point. This is not only shady and bad business but it’s lying and unethical. Amy the manager and the person working for her in the office were obnoxious. So Collen had nothing to do with them he was wonderful but the beyond tactics office team needs a revamp asap. I woukd rate the booking company a 0 out of 10 for lack of organization, professionalism and common courtesy.

  Tour was well described and lived up to all expectations. Lunch was very good. We saw 4 of the big 5 (leopards are very elusive midday) plus hippos plus many more. The guide was very knowledgeable & we learned a lot about the animals we saw.

  The organization of the tour was seamless, though I would have appreciated slightly better communication from the tour company. Since we were arriving on a cruise ship, I sent a message and an email after booking to request more specific directions regarding pickup. However, I did not receive a reply until the day before the tour, and even then, it was only a generic response. Fortunately, our driver, Collen Booi, reached out to us early in the morning via WhatsApp to confirm the meeting place and pickup time. Pickup was prompt and straightforward. Collen was pleasant, attentive, and friendly, ensuring that we had a great experience—and we certainly did. The minivan used for our small group was comfortable and clean. The safari experience exceeded our expectations. The welcome drink was a thoughtful touch, and the buffet lunch featured a variety of local cuisine with plenty of options. The dining area was spacious and not crowded. The schedule ran smoothly and on time. Collen arranged for our group to be the first to board the safari truck, allowing us to pick the best seats (though all were similar). The ride was naturally bumpy, as expected on unpaved safari roads, but we didn’t mind—it was part of the adventure! The truck driver provided informative commentary along the way and stopped whenever we encountered wildlife, ensuring we had great photo opportunities. While wildlife sightings were not abundant, we saw most of what we had hoped for—except for the elusive leopard. Many of the encounters were up close, making for an unforgettable experience. We spent a solid three hours exploring the reserve, with a mid-safari break that included another complimentary beverage—another thoughtful touch. Upon our return to the lodge, Collen was already waiting for us. Despite the tight schedule, he kindly offered time to browse the souvenir shop, though the group ultimately decided to skip it. His attentiveness was much appreciated. The ride back to the cruise terminal was smooth, wrapping up an exhilarating day. As first-time explorers on an African safari, we were thrilled with how well everything was organized. Best of all, we had the exact same experience as the cruise ship’s excursion but at 30% less cost! I highly recommend this tour.
