Garni

The journey toward Garni offers a beautiful mix of Armenia’s nature, history, and culture, featuring two iconic sites — the Arch of Charents and Garni Temple. The Arch of Charents, built in 1957 by architect Raphael Israelyan, is a symbolic viewpoint dedicated to poet Yeghishe Charents. It frames a stunning view of Mount Ararat above the Ararat Valley, with lines from Charents’ poetry carved into the arch. On clear days, the view is truly unforgettable. Further along stands Garni Temple, the only preserved pagan temple in Armenia. Built in the 1st century AD by King Trdat I and dedicated to the sun god Mihr, it combines Greco-Roman and Armenian styles. Perched above the Azat Gorge, it offers breathtaking views, while nearby ruins and a mosaic bathhouse complete the experience.

The Monastery of Geghard

The journey continues to Geghard Monastery, a masterpiece of 13th-century Armenian architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Partly carved into the surrounding rock, the monastery was originally called Ayrivank, meaning “cave monastery.” Later it was renamed Geghard, after the sacred lance that pierced Jesus Christ, once kept here. The complex is rich in intricate carvings and khachkars, while its unique acoustics make it an exceptional place for spiritual singing. The experience continues with a traditional lavash baking master class. Lavash, a soft and thin Armenian flatbread baked in a tonir oven, is an essential part of local cuisine. In 2014, lavash was included in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. During the master class, you will learn ancient baking techniques and taste freshly made lavash with local cheese and herbs — a simple yet unforgettable experience.

Sevan

Lake Sevan, known as the “pearl” of Armenia, is one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world, located at about 1900 meters above sea level. Surrounded by mountains rising over 3000 meters, the lake offers breathtaking landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and perfect conditions for relaxation. On its peninsula stands Sevanavank Monastery, built in 874 by Princess Mariam, the daughter of King Ashot Bagratuni. Overlooking the vast blue waters, the monastery creates a striking contrast against the turquoise lake and sky, offering one of the most iconic and unforgettable views in Armenia.
