This is a private tour for individual, corporate organizations, group of individuals known by themselves, travel agents that organize group tours.

Our First stop is Assin Manso Slave Ancestral River Site where the enslaved Ancestors had their last bath before moving them to Cape Coast and Elmina castles for final shipment.

After Assin Manso, we move to Cape Coast Castle for the main history about the slave trade during Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Erra and see the DOOR OF NO RETURN.

After the castle, we get to enjoy the hike to Kakum National Park as we go onto Canopy Walk in the park. Get ready for an exciting but physically demanding (15-20 minute) hike in a dense Rain Forest. We will climb a hill so wear sporty shoes, sneakers and face towel for the forest hike.

NB: You can skip Kakum National Park and go to Elmina Castle instead.

Enjoy your trip!

  • The history and...

The history and significance of the Slave River and Castles were palpable and powerful. However the knowledge and flexibility of the guide along with the cleanliness of the transportation were less than desirable. Although this is not the accountabilty of the tour operator visitors should be alerted to the fact that because of road conditions the 95 mile drive can take 4 to 5 hours.

I highly recommend this tour! As a female solo traveler, safety was my priority, and my guide Foster made me feel completely secure. He was exceptional, answering all my questions and introducing me to new experiences like tasting cacao fruit and fresh coconut water. The tour felt wonderfully personalized, with knowledgeable guides at each stop. The Assin Manso Slave River was particularly moving. The experience was so incredible that I booked another tour with Foster to the Aburi Botanical Gardens, which I also recommend. Both tours were highlights of my trip, and I would confidently recommend this tour operator to anyone, especially solo female travelers.

My guide/driver was Freedom. Shout outs to him because it is an extremely long day to host a tourist and most of it is not an easy drive due to the roads outside of central Accra. He was accommodating, especially because I was sleep deprived and needed to take time to rest throughout the day. The Ancestral River Park was actually the highlight of my entire Ghana trip - - highly recommended for descendants. At Cape Coast Castle, I believe they said they do not do any private/personal tours, so you will end up with whatever group arrives at the same time as you and is doing in the tour in the same language. That means you may have some attendees who are not taking the experience as seriously as others and it may be a very large group. That has nothing to do with this tour company specifically, just a heads up regardless of how you attend the Castle tour. Then I did the Canopy Tour, which was overall enjoyable. As for the meals, I would have preferred to skip the breakfast. It seems like they overcharge the tour companies (although you will not have to pay for it separately) and the food is not Ghanaian. The options are either a continental or a British-style breakfast, but I would have much preferred to eat a couple of granola bars and saved the time. The place we stopped for lunch had a good atmosphere and traditional options that were tasty.

We had such a wonderful time on the Assin Manso and Cape Coast tour, everything was well curated, after leaning about the history we ended the day with the canopy walk which was a lot of fun. Excellent experience, a must do if you visit Ghana! Best guide, who took great care of us from start to finish and even checking on us after he dropped us off. Lots of memories to last us a lifetime!

This is a must do tour that will take you through a wide range of emotions. I highly recommend it on your first visit to Ghana! Freedom was our tour guide, and he was very knowledgeable, thorough and professional. I love that the tour incorporated the Ancestral Slave River Park while other similar tours that I found only incorporated Kakum National Park. And we were given the option to skip the National Park, so if you want to focus on the history and the people’s experience, you can do so by only going to the Slave River Park and one or both Castles.
