What To Expect

This is a private guided tour and as such you are free to change the route, stops and sights at any point. Your friendly guide will work with you from the get go in order to personalise the tour to suit your interests and preferences. Below is an example of what to expect. Collecting you directly from your place of stay in Dublin you’ll take the more scenic east coast route towards Wicklow Goal. One of Ireland’s top attractions, Wicklow Gaol tells the story of its prisoners through an interactive tour led by experienced and passionate actor guides. Spend some time tracing your Irish roots at the Wicklow Genealogy Room in Wicklow Goal. Stop of for a bit of lunch or to purchase some world famous Throws & Blankets at Avoca Handweavers before heading on your way to Glendalough. Avoca is an Irish-run company that started as a manufacturer back in 1723. Avoca spans one of the world’s oldest surviving manufacturing companies. Up next. The monastic city of Glendalough. Situated within the glacial valley of Glendalough, the monastic city, founded in the 6th Century by St. Kevin has been visited throughout history for its mystical temptations. Take some time to explore the grounds and see its unique wildlife. The Round Tower and Monuments provide a great opportunity to get some memorable photographs. By taking your guide’s advice on duration you should still have time to visit The Powerscourt Estate. Powerscourt gardens also known as the “Garden of Ireland” were recently voted No.3 in the World’s Top Ten Gardens by National Geographic. Stretching over 47 acres the gardens offer a sublime blend of formal gardens, sweeping terraces, statues, ornamental lakes, secret hollows and rambling walks. The gardens were established and have been designed from 1731 onwards.  You can be dropped off anywhere back in Dublin city as you wish. Other noteworthy stops you can take along this route are Sallys Gap, Lough Tay (Guinness Lake), Powerscourt Waterfall, A traditional Irish pub for some food and a Guinness or perhaps the Military Road. Please chat to you guide about these.  Please note entrance fees into the sites are excluded in the tour price. Entrance fees are priced approx €7-10 per Adult at all sites. Miriam showed up on time and was very open to our suggestions. She was extremely friendly and made suggestions of places we would have never gone to on our own. What a lovely woman and a great tour!

Noel was a wonderful guide. He was punctual, informative, and personable when picking us up from our cruise ship tender. He gave a detailed tour of Glendolough in the pouring rain. He then took us to Powerscourt Estate, which was to be the highlight of the day. But the rains and winds continued, dampening our enthusiasm for the outing. But we were taken to charming pub in Enniskenny to dry out and drink up before returning to the dock. Although the weather curtailed seeing some of the sites we planned to see, we were happy with our time with Noel.

We had a terrific day touring the Wicklow mountains with Noel. He was knowledgable about everything and even found us a great table at a pub in the town near Powerscourt. it was a remarkable day!

Noel did an amazing job of showing us around. We visited close to a holiday, which meant that a number of things were closed. Noel went out of his way to make sure we got to see as much as possible.

Our driver took us to several beautiful spots near Dublin that fit into the time we had, beach town Bray, Glendalough historic monastery commune in the National park, Sallygap and Powerscourt Estate and Gardens. Beautiful spots not to be missed. He gave us a wonderful tour.

Great experience. Fantastic driver - super informative and great host. Didn't feel rushed. Helped customize the trip, kept a surprise and stopped to buy champagne without my partner knowing. Absolutely would recommend!

We went to Glendalough and Guinness lake. But you should be ashamed of yourself. We paid top $ for a private tour, yet you sent a taxi/van with no AC and no bottle water. The driver played loud music and kept drying his sweat off his head with a towel that he would throw next to my husband on the passenger seat. No Windows in the back, he didn’t take us to Power Court Garden, instead we spent 2 hours eating outside hot in Johnny Fox. I could have gotten a taxi, pay 200 Euros and done the same trip. I expect proper credit on my CC.

  • Of course Glendalough and...

Of course Glendalough and the walk to the two lakes was very memorable, but we also enjoyed the latter part of the trip. We skipped Powerscourt as e have seen it before and drove back on the Military Road through a beautiful and bleak landscape full of heather and peat everywhere we looked.

We (my father-in-law and I) were in Dublin for three days in May and wanted to do something outside the city but without spending too much time on the road. The tour was perfect for that and it was a great experience! Noel is a super relaxed guide who had a lot of interesting information at hand and always accommodated our pace and individual wishes. We can absolutely recommend the tour, many thanks Noel!
