The only church of the Genoese Renaissance, the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in Carignano was designed starting in 1549 by the Perugian architect Galeazzo Alessi, who conceived it as a grandiose noble church for the noble Sauli family. Its position, on the Carignano hill, makes it one of the most recognizable elements of the city and the most fascinating viewpoint in Genoa. Discover the history of this architectural jewel, an expression of the largest, wealthiest and most cultured society of Renaissance and then Baroque Genoa and reach the ancient panoramic walkways - never open to the public until now - which characterize it, to admire the territory, from the Lanterna up to to the Portofino promontory.

Pleasant visit, even the 250 steps do not weigh, because made in steps, friendly guide kind and prepared. In addition to the history of the construction of the Church it shows you all the. panorama and highlights of the city.

The climb to the terraces and the lantern of the dome is exciting! You have views of the whole city! The climb is divided into stages, so as to make it usable by everyone. At the end you can visit the church which is gorgeous. Our guide, Margherita, was able to communicate her enthusiasm and with great grace and competence, perfectly illustrate everything we saw, also focusing on historical anecdotes. Even I who am Genoese could learn new information.

Visit of an architectural jewel in the city of Genoa, under the professional guidance of Benedetta. The latter, in fact, responding to each question with kindness and exhaustiveness, narrated the history of the Basilica, the reasons for the construction, the subsequent interventions. Beautiful 360-degree experience. You can admire Genoa from above. It 'a "new-alternative" approach to tourism to appreciate many monuments while being starved of more cultural news. Like us not everyone studied art history for example. The very professional and nice guide. We will participate in other Kalatà initiatives and highly recommend them. The only drawback is having to pay in advance the visit without the possibility of moving it so as not to lose payment......
