Surfing Lessons in Newquay, Cornwall

Learning to surf in Newquay is a blast a minute. Starting with fun active warm ups, beach safety and how to catch waves on your stomach you’ll be in the water in no time. Learn from the best, our experienced and passionate surf instructors will break down, demonstrate and support you through the fundamentals of catching and riding a Cornish wave. Master the coolest sport on earth and join us for a surf lesson in Newquay.

Duration:

All of our activities are two hours long from once you are in a wetsuit. Typically customers will need 3 hours with us in total.

What we provide:

We provide all the equipment that you need. (wetsuits, surfboards)

We ask that you bring something to wear under your wetsuit and a towel. If it's sunny we recommend a bottle of water and suncream.

What To Expect

A warm welcome awaits you by your surf instructor, you’ll be sized up for your wetsuit before being handed your surfboard. You’ll need your swimming costume, a towel and some shoes for the beach. Once everyone is ready it’s a short walk to either of the beaches where your coach provides an overview of your lesson. The aim of our group lesson is to pass on enough information for you to feel confident to surf in your own time. You’ll learn beach, surf and board safety, before practising your prone surfing and catching waves on your stomach. After some further tuition back on the sand, it’s time to test out your pop up skills and ride waves back to the shore looking the part.

My two sons had an epic four hours of surfing with Matt today. Matt was a brilliant and knowledgeable instructor and in their words ‘the best’ and ‘amazing’ - especially after doing a head stand on the board! Thank you Matt for your time and for giving them both a great experience surfing in the Cornish Sea! We would recommend Cornish Wave without hesitation and we hope to be back again one day soon.

First time every surfing, amazing experience. Dan was so good at explaining everything, keeping close eye and notices my mistakes and immediately helping me fixing it. Thanks to him I was able to do several clean wave surfing standing up. Genuinely kind, nice and humble guy. Really recommend it.

Visited today for a beginners surf class and had an amazing time! Lovely shop with all equipment given to us, followed by a fun but effective safety breefing. Everything was explained clearly and made it easier for us to catch some waves! Would 100% return. It was GREAT fun, recommend to everyone of all ages. Our instructor Judy was amazing too.

We felt welcomed by staff since our entry into the shop. Although we did not have a proper warm up, except for carrying our boards down to the beach, we spent plenty of time in water practicing. I would definitely do it again!

We had a brilliant time trying surfing with Nick. With a teenager it can be hard in half term to find activities to do but honestly I would recommend this. We had a really rainy day but to be honest that was great as we got wet anyway! And the sea was warm and waves were amazing. Would definitely go again if in Newquay and tempted to also try the coasteering too as that looks amazing. Thanks guys, was great and would recommend 100 percent.
