I took 3 different busses and 2 of the 3 drivers/tour guides were great! One guide wasn’t as linked into the history of Boston but she had some good information.

busses and stops were not crowded. Timbo and Papa Jim were knowledgable. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Open air trolley, can get very hot, even with the breeze. Audio can be iffy/too soft if driver not speaking clearly.

The best way to get around the city while also learning about Boston’s history. Sure there are other tour buses, but the Hop on Hop off, in my opinion, is the most reasonably priced and worthwhile.

This isn't a straightforward review and may not reflect the true value of this tour. It was July 4th in Boston. Hop-on-off ran a truncated schedule due to street closures for the 4th celebrations. That being said, they could've done a MUCH better job communicating this to patrons. Some drivers were VERY knowledgeable of historic facts. Others not so much. I was exceedingly disappointed with the "boarding" process to join the tour. The website said it was a 5 minute walk to the bus. We were on the Queen Mary. There was a hop on-off bus RIGHT at the pier. We were told by the Boston Trollley desk at the pier we COULDN'T board it as it was only available for tours booked through Cunard. We had to catch a non-existent option. A free Queen Mary shuttle to the end of the pier to catch the bus at stop 1. The shuttle driver told us they would NOT stop there. It was a long 15 minute hot slog to reach stop 1 and the "regular" bus. This was exceedingly frustrating and soured my view of the tour. Boston Trolley needs to communicate better than this.
