El Zanjon De Granados

Visiting El Zanjon de Granados will take you on a surprising trip to Buenos Aires’ past. Behind a sober colonial facade, a network of tunnels, cisterns and passageways dating from the 17th and 18th centuries opens. During the tour, you walk through underground brick galleries, illuminated to highlight their original architecture, while observing archaeological pieces rescued in the excavations: ceramics, utensils and remains of ancient walls. Guides enrich the experience with stories about colonial life, 19th century convents and the restoration that rescued this heritage. The visit combines history, archaeology and architecture, allowing you to walk on the hidden tracks of the city and live a unique experience in one of the most fascinating sites of San Telmo.
