4 of us booked this tour and were concerned about the weather. I emailed the operator the day ahead of the excursion and said I was concerned about the weather. They said that they would make a decision and let us know as soon as they could about the weather. The excursion went ahead. This excursion should NEVER have happened. The weather and water was bad. Over a third of the people on the boat were very sea sick. Only a third of the people actually got into the water. I want in and tried snorkelled for 15 minute’s. The waves were bouncing us up and down. We saw very little as the waves kept bouncing us up and down and the currents pushing us around. Visibility was terrible due to rough seas. The onboard crew did their best but I don’t believe they should have ever gone out as the sea was that rough. It was a very disappointing and a total waste of money. Our friends from Canada were very sick and were so looking forward to snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef. Most people on the boat agreed that this was a disaster. I hate to leave a negative review but I need to be honest. It was bad.

I enquired a couple of days before the half day snorkelling experience, to see whether it was going to be cancelled. It was going ahead - and I should have cancelled anyway. But you never know if you are heading away from the weather, or what the swell was, for that instance. Land based weather doesn't cover an hour's boat travel to sea. Some were sick on the way to the reef, while some of us trained our eyes on the horizon. My husband was first off and I was 5th. My swim to hwrer the reef was was exhausting, with the swell (? 1metre) and swimming against the current. I returned, my husband did next, seasick. Only 8 snorkelled, four more hung onto the life preserver rope. The rest were on the boat, most sick, out of 30. The trip back was awful. They just should have cancelled so we could have our money back. That would have been the kind thing to do. We know they paid their staff for the day, and they worked hard for it. But man, it was not a good day at all.

Frankie, Taylor, Marie were excellent hosts and provided great knowledge of the marine ecosystem. The trip out was comfortable and speedy and the amount of time on the reef was just right. Plenty of aquatic life to observe and learn about

Great 1/2 day snorkeling to the Great Barrier Reef. The young ladies manning the boat were terrific! Beginners at snorkeling beware…the sea was rough with strong currents and you’re out in the middle of the ocean. Be sure to wear a life jacket…it can be exhausting. That being said…worth every second! Nature is beautiful and the reef was spectacular!! A huge plus was the photos taken by our leader..downloaded and available for free. Also, thanks for the yummy treat!! Highly recommend this tour!!

This tour was canceled on the day. They said it was because of the weather BUT other tour operators went ahead. I am waiting for my refund.

We did the half day Great Barrier Reef Snorkeling trip. It was great except sadly the weather got windy and rainy. It was still a blast. Marie, Beth and Brandon made the day so enjoyable.
