Paul was our guide and he was AMAZING! From start to finish he was full of interesting facts, Alaska stories and the traditions. Please ask for him- you’ll love the entire trip! We even saw a Moose on the way to Chena! If we make it back to Alaska we will definitely be meeting up!

Watch out the window on your drive - I did see a moose! Also, splurge for the Appletini in the ice museum!

We saw this excursion as the only one available on our Princess Cruise but beginning at 6pm until 11:30pm. Had used Viator previously in Europe and had a great experience with the personal touch so we checked and found the exact same excursion but from noon until 5:30pm. Jake was our driver and he was great at answering our questions about Alaska, Fairbanks, and the site. Ice museum was small but unique and the hot springs were very relaxing. On the way back my wife spotted a moose off the road and unlike a cruise ship coach, Jake turned us around and parked so that we could watch the yearling and also his mom that he pointed out to be nearby. I realized just before leaving Fairbanks the next morning that I had forgotten my favorite leather baseball cap on the small bus and when I called someone told me they had it and immediately brought it to the hotel before we had to leave. All around a great excursion with fantastic Viator service!

Joe, our driver, made our trip. Being a native, he was very knowledgeable about the area. The ice house is fascinating but cold. Be sure to wear the heavy jackets offered. Also, buy the appletinii served in literally a glass made of ice! Chena Hot Springs was a nice warmup after the ice house! On the way back, Joe spotted a cow calf moose, which we would have never seen. It was an added bonus to the day.
