Known as the “ Whiskey route”, Truly Machame route is the most popular route and has a very high success rate of making it to the top. It offers beautiful and natural features of landscape. It starts with a nice day of walking through the rainforest and has a nice steady altitude increase each day. The accommodation on the way up and down is strictly camping (movable tents) only. The Machame Route takes you high to Lava Tower on day 3 then brings you down for an overnight at Barranco Camp. This intermediate ascent and descent is the secret to a successful acclimatization and is the reason that this route has a high success rate.

Very early in the morning (midnight to 2 am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see. Faster hikers may view the sunrise from the summit. From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. Once at Uhuru Peak you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa! From the summit we begin our descent by continuing straight down to the Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You may want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. We arrive at Mweka Camp and enjoy our last evening on the mountain.

  • A Kilimanjaro Trip to Remember

    - Review from Tripadvisor

It was a lot of fun, difficult from time to time, exhilarating when I reached the summit. I chose a 6 days Machame Route climb on Mount Kilimanjaro with All Weather Adventure team and I did not regret for a moment. Because the adventure has its challenges (tricky weather, high altitude, unknown country and customs) it weight significantly who/how is organizing your trip. I have to admit that everything was flawless, from the moment I have been picked up from airport, the hotel accommodations to the entire experience on the mountain. The All Weather Adventures team planned the entire experience to the smallest detail. I got an entire team as support and they took care of all my needs (carrying part of my luggage, camping equipment, cooking utensils and food, personal guide even a personal assistant). You cannot appreciate enough the hard working porters, the skilled cook (so much food and so divers, taking in account that everything was carried with you on the mountain). However, the most important was the chemistry with Nemes, the expedition’s guide. As a team leader, he was a determining factor for my summit success.
