Your day begins with a convenient morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi — or directly from Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport — in a clean, air-conditioned safari vehicle. Your first stop is a traditional Maasai village set on the open plains. This community-led visit offers a rare window into one of East Africa’s most iconic cultures. Guided by Maasai hosts themselves, you will experience traditional singing and jumping dances, learn how homes are built, see intricate beadwork, discover bush survival techniques and medicinal plants, and understand how this proud pastoral community balances ancient traditions with the modern world. If you wish, you may also walk briefly with cattle across the plains — a meaningful glimpse into daily Maasai life — before continuing toward the lush highlands of Materuni village.
Arriving in Materuni, on the green slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, you will be warmly welcomed into a local Chagga home for a freshly prepared traditional lunch accompanied by tropical fruits. After lunch, enjoy an immersive, hands-on coffee tour that reveals Tanzania’s rich coffee heritage. Guided by local farmers, you will learn how coffee is grown, dried, roasted, and ground using traditional methods. Join in the lively pounding process — often accompanied by rhythmic Chagga songs and dance — before brewing your own cup of freshly roasted coffee. Savor the aroma, flavor, and pride of a drink made entirely by your own hands.

So we thought it will be a group of people taken to Masai village but it turns out it was only us 4. For the whole village to make a dancing show etc. Wonderful experience. Expect to buy some souvenirs from locals at the village, or make little donation.

Visiting the Maasai village will remain etched in my heart as an extraordinary adventure, of rare intensity. A deeply human moment, rich in emotion, authenticity and sharing. I was touched by the warmth of Welcoming and the strength of the traditions of this unique people. A huge thank you also to our driver Mpemba, whose professionalism, kindness and attention made this experience even more beautiful and unforgettable.
