There is minimal lighting in the areas that you walk to; therefore, be extremely cautious of falls. The tour guide walked and talked too fast and did not offer Q&A.

Our tour guide, Sean, was great. Despite the rain, we hit a ton of monuments and memorials! The night time tour gives you the opportunity to see everything with less crowds.

  • Heavy on sightseeing, light on education.

The tour was 3 hours on a 30 person bus. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned. We saw multiple different sites in the 3-hour time frame and we're able to get lots of great pictures. Overall it was a very efficient way to see all the monuments. We even got to go to Arlington to see the Iwo Jima monument. The only negative thing I have to comment on is that the tour could have been more educational and historic. Basic comments and trivia facts were told, but the overall picture of the significance of the monuments' honorees and how the DC and US history is interconnected was missing. I found myself having to supplement the tour guide's explanations for my children so they could actually get a lesson out of the tour. If I can make a suggestion to the company, I would say to have historians or history teachers write a script for the tour that helps tell a story or helps people see how the larger values of the American government are represented in these monuments. For example, like making clear connections between the monuments, such as how the MLK memorial is important given the history of the Civil Rights Movement that had a big event take place at the Lincoln Memorial and the reflecting pool. This then brings us to the modern times where the African-American History museum was finally made, etc. Or how The world war II memorial connects to the Iwo Jima memorial. Explaining why the world war II memorial has Atlantic and Pacific sides and Iwo Jima being integral to the Pacific theaters victory. I feel like when the narrative is not given effectively the story and significance gets lost. And this is especially troubling because on the tour there are many children and many people from foreign nations who don't have the background knowledge to put these monuments into context and they need to be explained so that they get it.

We were NOT in an open air vehicle save it was not glass topped, either. Super disappointing. I felt duped. Brittney was difficult to understand- fast rate of speech and little to no enunciation.

I was not able to attend due to the flooding near my hotel and the weather in Virginia seems there’s no refunds for weather related issues as per the guide
