The workshop covers the modern and traditional use of Japanese tea, which includes green tea(sencha), Japanese black tea(wakocha), Japanese oolong tea, hojicha(roasted tea), and matcha. You will learn how to brew each tea properly with basic knowledge such as brewing temperatures, technique, and handling tools along with the discussion of history. Then, we will talk about the process involved in making each tea, and educate about the philosophy of Japanese tea culture, which has shaped the country as we know it today. Next, we will have a hands-on activity, where we apply the existing traditions with new techniques. Such as, making tea drinks with natural ingredients like fruit, and infusing it with alcohol. A wonderfully authentic experience with an incredibly genuine, knowledgeable, and funny host. We learned so much at this workshop, it really was a highlight of our honeymoon trip to Japan. One of the most memorable experiences in Japan that we had! Thank you, Ko, for treaching us about the intricacies and beauty of tea!

Ko was an amazing host with an impressive knowledge of Japanese tea and mixology. If you have an interest in tea, Ko will elevate your knowledge to the next level. You can tell he is an extremely passionate person when it comes to tea and this is only bolstered by his friendly personality. During our time with Ko, we learned a lot about the history of tea as well as how to properly brew a variety of Japanese teas. This was then taken to the next level as Ko walked us through making both alcoholic and non-alcoholic mixed drinks with tea. Everything tastes amazing and we were able to take notes so that we could recreate these drinks at home. I highly recommend the experience and would definitely go again in order to learn more about the intricacies of tea and how to utilize them in your home bar.

What an amazing experience it was! Ko knows so much about tea and was amazing while explaining it to us! We were lucky that it was almost a private class for us as it was just me and my wife for the class! I can’t recommend this enough! All five kinds of tea, were amazing and I might try order the green tea from him back home! The cherry in the cake was the tea cocktails and my favorite matcha latte recipe he shared with us! Oh it’s going to be so hard to like and find this good a tea now!!!

Such a wonderful experience with Ko. This combined both the traditional tea making experience, as well as a history and culinary lesson. Not to mention mixology! Plus, it’s hands on! You may find yourself searching for loose leaf tea and tea making sets.

Fabulous afternoon learning and tasting Japanese tea. The correct way to hold a teapot. Then making cocktails out of tea was so much fun and delicious 😋

It was very interesting and fun: First, Ko explained a lot about the history of tea, then we got hands on experience, showing also some intricate details of tea making (not only timing etc., but also how to hold a tea pot correctly, and why) in a kind way. In the end, we got some really neat tea cocktail including recipe!

It is difficult to explain how amazing this experience was. Ko was an incredible teacher and very kind. His passion was infectious and heartwarming. My partner and I were enthralled as he led us through the process of properly making tea and his philosophy around the ceremony. If you are a fan of real tea, or have an interest in community building, this is the place for you. My partner and I were up all night thinking about it. One thing in particular he said stuck out to me, "The act of drinking tea is a beautiful rebellion." Simply the act of sitting down and preparing a lovely cup of tea for yourself and allowing yourself to relax and slow down flies in the face of the fast paced lifestyle everyone wants you to participate in. What a lovely sentiment from an amazing experience.

I had a great 2 hours, learning and tasting the different types of Japanese tea and how to prepare them. Then we prepared a drink from the menu together, it was delicious, as delicious as a dessert. At the end I was able to choose a cocktail based on my favorite tea that he prepared for me: it was very good. It was a great experience, adjustable and flexible according to your taste and preference, without forgetting the little samples of tea offered at the end to share all this with our loved ones when we return! I highly recommend. Little extra: the activity takes place in a charming little area of Tokyo, quiet and very different from the usually very touristy areas, with a few second-hand clothes shops nearby. THANKS !
