The first time that Easy Company part of the 101st. Airborne division reached the hills of Obersalzberg most of the buildings in that area where destroyed. If you visit this area today you will see that a lot has changed, the forest has taken over and a big parking place leads people straight up the mountain. This tour is here to provide you with far reaching insight of the historical locations hidden in the forest, see the ruins of Hitler's house and other WWII sights that will bring history to life. Then hike up from there to the Eagle's Nest and you will following the steps of the first American soldiers that got there by foot in May 1945. Even though the Eagle's Nest is one of the most visited places in Germany our tour will take us thru a more richer and less traveled path. The tour is a mix world history, exercise and incredible landscapes.

What To Expect
Kehlsteinhaus
The Eagle's Nest is located in the imposing summit of the Kehlstein mountain. Even to this date not such place has being build. People taking the tour will discover all the history behind its construction, win insight about the role it plays today in society and have the opportunity to explore the incredible landscapes of the Bavarian Alps.
This part of the tour is unique because the location is so rich historically, only if you know where to look. We will hike around the area of Obersalzberg, the place where Hitler and many other high ranking officers had their houses. The tour will give an insight of the historical importance of that area, how it was transformed into a nazi town and what decisions where taken there that affected the life of millions.

Entrance to the Eagle's Nest
Food is not included in the tour, make sure to bring your own snacks or food for a picnic in the Alps.
Bus down the mountain to the Obersalzberg is not included (25.10euro cash or card)

5.00This was one of the best experiences of our trip to Germany. Claudio is incredibly knowledgeable and excited about the information. He brought us to some special places that people would not know about. He kept the perfect pace for us as we switchbacked up the mountain. The views at the top were all the more rewarding and spectacular because we walked it. We highly recommend taking this tour. A few pieces of information to keep in mind; it is a walk on a gravel/paved pathway. We wore hiking shoes but would have been fine in good sneakers. The walk took 2.5 hours and it was all uphill. You need good legs! Bring a small snack and water along.

5.00I went in hoping for a good day of hiking and meeting new people; Claudio’s Monkey Business tour blew those expectations away. From start to finish, Claudio was warm, organized, and incredibly knowledgeable about Berchtesgaden and the Eagle’s Nest. He shared history and local insights in a way that made every stop more meaningful, and he was wonderfully attentive — making sure everyone felt included and part of the team. The pace was smooth, the energy was upbeat, the weather was perfect, and the camaraderie in the group was genuine. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. I can’t recommend this hike enough!

5.00Great way to experience the history of Berchtesgaden. The hike seems daunting but is actually not bad at all. Getting to retrace the steps of Easy Company and the 101st airborne makes the experience all the more special. Claudio is full of great information and explains all the back story to every “why” and “what.” You will get to see many things (hidden bunkers in the forest, Hitler’s Berghof, the house where part of Mein Kampf was written) that are not available if you elect to simply take the bus up to the Eagles Nest. The views from the walking trail are far better than those of the bus. If you’ve traveled all the way to Berchtesgaden, spend the money and have the right experience. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

5.00We had an amazing time with Claudio! He was such a knowledgeable and engaging guide, taking the time to interact with everyone while switching seamlessly between German and English. The hike was tough at times but Claudio adjusted the pace to make sure everyone was comfortable. We had great chats and snack breaks along the way. Overall, we learned a lot and had great fun, highly recommended!!

5.00WOW!!!!! What an AMAZING DAY!!!! Claudio was our guide and he was so kind, knowledgeable, and fun! It was just my husband and me and we went at a great pace (my husbands back was hurting and he was still able to comfortably so the hike). It has a steep incline but Claudio does a great job at taking breaks and also just chit chatting the whole way!! He also have us some great recommendations for the area to try too. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves history and hiking!!!
