They went above & beyond showing us as much as possible. We looked for manatees, looked for saw nose fish in their breeding area. We went to turtle island, went to a rookery & saw Indian shell mounds. Not to mention our experience with dolphins! Our guide was very knowledgable. 10/10 would reccomend!!

The tour was great. We were 5 people, the boat was comfortable, clean and nothing noisy, like the propeller boats. Wirsing visited many small islands, the boatmaster patiently explained everything and made many background reports. We also drove through the mangroves, saw many birds and a group of dolphins. No crocodiles, unfortunately. At the end went to the Observation Tower, from which one had a fantastic view.

I was originally torn between taking an airboat tour or the Everglades Mangrove Wilderness Boat Tour—and I'm so glad I chose the latter! Friends of ours did an airboat tour the day before and, while they enjoyed parts of it, they found it extremely noisy and noted that it didn’t actually go through Everglades National Park. By contrast, this Mangrove Wilderness tour was a peaceful and immersive journey into the actual park. Our guide was outstanding—knowledgeable, engaging, and full of fascinating stories about the region’s history and ecology. One of the most memorable parts of the tour was learning about how early inhabitants built up islands using generations of oyster and clam shells. Seeing those shell layers in person gave a real sense of the human history here. The tour culminated in a serene ride through a mangrove canal, where the guide explained how water flows from northern Florida down through the state, shaping Florida’s distinct ecosystems and feeding the Everglades. Along the way, we were lucky enough to spot dolphins, manatees, and a variety of nesting birds. If you want to truly experience the Everglades—quietly, respectfully, and educationally—this is the tour to take. Highly recommended!

A great way to see the Mangroves. Needed a break from the beach so decided to take an Everglades City excursion. It was last minute and affordable so took a chance. We were 2 of only 6 people. Love the smaller group, the stability and comfort of the boat made it ideal. Unlike the air boats that are loud and fast, this was a wuiet very peaceful ride in to the mangrove tunnel. Saw dolphins and manatees as well as many birds nesting their young. Very relaxing way to get on the water and see wildlife.

  • Nice trip in the sea shore mangrove

The experience was nice. A boat trip in the sea shore around the mangrove islands. We saw some dolphins that were following us surfing the waves made by the boat: it was incredible! Unfortunately, that day, no manatees, and it seems crocodiles are not on this part of the mangrove. We saw different birds (pelicans, herons, ...) and passed a narrow channel (tunnel of mangrove); it was very nice.

  • Enjoyable ride. Good breeze, no bugs.

I chose this tour over an airboat because it was longer than most airboat tours and because it seemed more educational. We were afraid that it was going to be super hot on the tour because the temperature was so horribly high. The boat moves along at a good speed, though, giving you a nice breeze. Like other tours in this area, you spend a fair amount of time in open water as you travel between the islands. This wasn't exactly what we were expecting, but we saw dolphins in the open water! The boat pilot is trained to steer the boat to encourage the dolphins to follow. The dolphins like to use the boat's wake as a transit system to get them where they want to go faster. We saw several kinds of birds and a bird rookery. All during the tour you can see many mangrove roots along the banks. The part of the tour during which you go through the mangrove tunnel is a closer view of the mangroves. The pilot tells you about different types of mangrove trees. Although the mangrove tunnel is advertised as one of the highlights of the tour, it didn't seem all that exciting to me. I think I had incorrect expectations for the tour. I thought that in the Everglades we would be boating past numerous alligators and other wildlife. There wasn't an alligator in sight! As I mentioned, a lot of the tour was on open water. I was expecting a more dense, jungle-like experience. I did really enjoy the boat ride, though. The boat was usually in 2-3 feet of water, with the deepest water being 5-6 feet. We had no problems with bugs at all--we didn't even need bug spray! Once you got off the boat, it was back to the oppressive Florida heat. The pilot recommended a local restaurant for lunch, Camellia Street Grill. It's pricey, but the food was excellent. We had been wanting to eat at a restaurant where local fresh fish is served, and that's what we got at Camellia's.

Great experience and learned so much. Wonder seeing the dolphins swimming behind the boat. The mangroves were awesome and we enjoyed all the birds we saw. Our captain did a great job and taught us so much.
