I (Captain Matt) along with my crew member take our guests out for an incredible experience on the waters in and around Sitka Sound viewing the breathtaking scenery and enjoying diverse wildlife encounters! You may see many if not all of the following wildlife, Humpback whales, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, Ravens, Bald eagles, shearwaters, cormorants, 2 types of puffins, and many other sea birds too numerous to mention.
Bears are regularly viewed in the late summer early fall, and occasionally viewed in the spring.
As I have had a long career commercial fishing in Southeast Alaska, I give unique insight into the local fishing industry. Both my crew and I will also enlighten you on local history and life in Sitka.
To ensure your experience is genuine, my crew is always either one of my family, or a local hire that truly knows Sitka. We live it year round!!

What To Expect
Sitka
Cruise the waters of Beautiful Sitka Sound, and the outer coastline of Baranof Island viewing Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Harbor seals, Humpback Whales, possibly Orcas, Bald Eagles, and a vast variety of sea birds. Many times all in one tour.

Best Whale Watching Tour in Sitka

5.00We just got back from our Alaska Cruise today (Aug 17, 2025) and wanted to give a review of Sea Piper Whale Watching Wildlife tour in Sitka. We had 7 people ages 19 to 80. I never write reviews, but feel when expectations are far exceeded, I have to give credit where deserved. Captain Matt communicated with me at every step. We had a family member on a mobile scooter that needed assistance. He met us at the place where the cruise port shuttle dropped off their patrons. First, he took us to see Brown Bears, where we watched them up close on the shoreline. We then saw Sea Otters, Sea Lions, and Baby Eagles. But the most important part was all of the Whales. He knew all of the spots and called the other Captains to ensure the best chance of seeing them. I feel like we saw 8 or more of them. We got great tail shots also. I will upload some pictures when everyone send them to me. Listen, all a parent wants to hear is that their child stated, "It was one of the greatest experience of her life." Thanks Captain Matt.
