You’ll witness chefs grilling over open flames, hear the laughter of locals, and feel the warmth of true Japanese hospitality. This is not a staged show — it’s a genuine, unscripted experience that reveals the soul of Hakata. Join us for a night of food, drinks, and connection — an unforgettable evening that only locals can show you.
Experience the Real Fukuoka — Eat, Drink, and Connect at Tenjin’s Hidden Yatai Skip the touristy Nakasu stalls and discover where locals truly gather. Your friendly local guide will take you to Tenjin’s hidden yatai, small open-air food stalls loved by Fukuoka residents. Here, you’ll sit shoulder-to-shoulder with locals, taste authentic Hakata dishes, and feel the real heartbeat of the city. Enjoy rich tonkotsu ramen, juicy yakitori, and heartwarming oden, along with creative dishes unique to each stall. Every yatai has its own flavor, stories, and regulars who love to chat over drinks and laughter. Your guide will help you order, translate, and connect — making it easy to join conversations and experience local hospitality that goes beyond words. This is not just dinner; it’s a cultural immersion. Come hungry, be open, and let Tenjin’s food, people, and atmosphere show you what Fukuoka nightlife is truly about.

Don't take this tour. If you do, you've been warned. This was the most unusual Foodie tour I've been on. It started with a subway that cost me Y210. We went to a shrine and walked from there to the boat ride. I had to pay Y2000 for the ride. After we walked to the Izakaya and that cost me Y4000. And finally a Y210 subway ride back to the starting point. This is on top of the $170 I paid to sign up for the tour. That said, the guide was very nice and the food was very good. I don't want to get anyone fired but I think the guide needs to be trained better and that falls on the company. For example he would say, "Shall we take the subway?" and I'm thinking, "you're asking me, the visitor?" (Just take control and say, "We need to take the subway." At the Izakaya, he handed me a menu and said, "What would you like to eat?" I answered, "I can't read Japanese." So he proceeded to translate the menu to me. After a couple of minutes, I said, "To be honest, the reason I take a foodie tour is so I don't have to make these decisions." So he asks, "Should I order?" and I reply, "That would really be helpful." So he orders a wonderful "kamameshi" (rice pot). But, it took 1 hour to cook so the tour was supposed to end at 9 but we got back to the starting point at 1020. It was just awkward.
