Hill of Tara
Private guided tour of the Hill of Tara, a Celtic ceremonial site associated with kingship rituals. The summit of the hill is enclosed by a Iron Age Royal Enclosure known as the Fort of the Kings. There are two interlinked earthworks within the enclosure, Cormac’s House and the Royal Seat. In the middle of the Royal Seat is a standing stone known as the Lia Fáil (Stone of Destiny) at which the High Kings were crowned. According to legend when the true King held the stone, it would let out a screech that could be heard all over Ireland.
Loughcrew Cairns
Private guided tour of the 5000 year old Stone Age Cairns spread across the hills at Loughcrew. The Irish name for the site is Slieve na Caillaigh, which means "mountain of the hag". Legend has it that the monuments were created when a giant hag, striding across the land, dropped her cargo of large stones from her apron.

Wow, what a great day we had with Michael! He is so much fun, knows so much about the area and the different sites, and he took great care of us throughout the day. Michael picked us up in Trim and dropped us off in Dublin. He gave us so much more than we expected.

if you are planning a trip to the Boyne Valley and sites such as Knowth, Newgrange, the Hill of Tara and the other ancient locations the valley offers. You cannot find a better guide than Michael Fox of Boyne Valley Tours. Newgrange & Hill of Tara Private Tours | Ireland's Ancient East From our very first inquiry, all the way through the end of the day we toured with Michael his communication was exceptional. His love and respect for the area he calls home is readily apparent. Michael’s deep connection to this area coupled with his knowledge of the history, stories, legends and facts is all encompassing. Even better, he readily shares this on his tours. If in-depth knowledge, humor, and good communication are what you seek on a private tour you can’t ask for a better guide.

An absolute gem of a day. Michael, our guide, was wonderful company and shared so much about Ireland’s history and current affairs. He made everything come alive for us and we are truly grateful. We would highly recommend this tour (or any other the company offers).

What a wonderful day with Michael in the Boyne Valley/NewGrange. Not only did we learn about the ancient sites from the Stone Age to the Kelts, we walked in their shadows. Michael is an excellent guide with humor and intellect. His car was immaculately clean and roomy. I plan on keeping in contact with Michael for further guided adventures in Ireland. I give Michael my highest recommendation!

Husband and I had a great day with Michael as our guide! We opted for the Castles & Abbeys tour and Michael went above and beyond in tailoring the day to our interests and showing us things that were on and off the beaten path, and definitely not seen by many tourists! Thank you Michael - everything was wonderful, and the Celtic Crosses were extra special!

We were initially looking at seeing New Grange, but were told it was a tourist nightmare. I found the tour with Michael Foxx, and we were able to see several other passage tombs privately instead. Michael is very knowledgeable and professional and defiantly made it worth it.

My wife and I toured the Boyne Valley with Michael, and it was the highlight of our trip to Ireland! We would rate him as 5+ stars for sure - first class - look forward to taking another tour with him next time we travel to Ireland. We were able to do and see so much more with Michael as our guide. His attention to detail was apparent even before we arrived. Several emails and text messages prior to our arrival made us feel like we would be well taken care of - and we were! He is extremely knowledgeable of the Boyne Valley history as well other aspects of Irelands history. Very pleasant to talk to during the drive to the tour locations as well.

Michael Fox picked us up for an all day tour of the Boyne Valley. Our party consisted of myself and 18 year old grandson. Michael was very personable and knowledgeable of the area. He took us to see Fourknocks which is like New Grange but not as commercialized. We saw Kells High Crosses in a cemetery, Old Mellifont Abbey, Battle of the Boyne, Hill of Tara and the grounds of Trim Castle. We also had a delicious lunch and stopped at Michael’s home and met his wife, Bernadette. Michael’s hospitality, extensive knowledge and enthusiasm made the day memorable for us both. Highly recommend this special adventure for all ages.

The Irish history lesson, beautiful views of Celtic crosses, historical monuments, lunch, Newgrange and Knowth, left my sisters and I with a wonderful first day experience in Ireland. Michael was top-notch and made us feel like we were family during our experience. I would highly recommend his tour.

Michael was a kind and thoughtful guide. We learned so much about the local wildlife, plants, and trees through casual conversation. The Newgrange experience was awe-inspiring. Especially loved that he took us to an extra spot because we were curious about Irish Yews. Easily the highlight of our 8 days in Dublin.
