Monastery of Agios Gerasimos
St. Gerasimos is the island’s patron saint and his relics are kept in the monastery’ s smaller church in a silver sarcophagus which is opened during services for the congregation to kiss his feet .Set in the Omala valley ,with a splendid bell-tower build in the architectural style peculiar to the Ionian Islands. A small hole in the church floor leads down to an underground chamber where the saint lived as a hermit.

5.00We had a wonderful day with Dimitris - he arranged things such that we beat the crowds to the lagoon and cave (and even found time to stop and see some sea turtles!). Dimitris shared knowledge and love for the island and showed us a few of his favorite spots in addition to the ones on the itinerary. He catered the whole day to us and helped us work around a crazy rain storm that passed through without missing anything. Phenomenal Day - highly recommend!

5.00we absolutely loved every minute of the day Dimitri was such a brilliant guide and we learned so much about this beautiful Island ,the whiole day was tailored to our preferences .So many beautiful places Drogati cave ,Fiscardo, Melissini lake ,Myrtos beach Assos ,so glad we opted for the private tour on our first visit to Kefalonia , would definitely recommend, may seem a tad expensive compared to group tours but we genuinely learned so much more about everywhere we visited and the history of the Island ,well worth every penny and Dimitri just made our day perfect..
