We had a fantastic tour with Burak to Troy and Galipoli. He was very knowledgeable and very funny, and I would recommend him and the tour to everyone. He even went out of his way and found the name of a relative of mine on the Helles point memorial.

The visit of Troy was really interesting. The visit to Gallipoli, on the other hand, was a little long and a little redundant because we went around several cemeteries. The dinner was also very ordinary.

Hassan is a truly superb guide. It is not easy to guide people around the battlefields of Gallipoli. The locations are extraordinarily beautiful, but what happened there was almost unimaginably horrible. And, of course, most people are on holiday, although some may be on a personal pilgrimage. Hassan managed a very well-judged combination of empathy, humour, and detail, while giving everybody space to reflect and relax. His knowledge of the Gallipoli campaign is deep. He countered many myths about the ANZAC forces' time there, while being respectful of the importance of Gallipoli in those countries national stories.

Charlie was an excellent tour guide. He was full of knowledge but more importantly, he really made history come alive in how he told the story. He looked after us all very well and made an effort to connect with each person in the group. I highly recommend this tour.

Charlie was an amazing host. Knowledgeable and had a sharp whit! We did a detailed visit of ANZAC Cove and all other relevant areas regarded the New Zealand & Australian points of interest in the 1915 offensive. Great value for money, we both learnt a lot.

Very entertaining and engaging guides that shared a wealth of knowledge. Cindy took us to Troy and we were sorry she was not staying with us. She was pleasant and very smart. Charlie took us to Gallipoli and was the same.

We really enjoyed our full day of Troy and Gallipoli. We were picked up on time from our hotel in Çannakale and brought to Troy, where our wonderful guide Cindy told us the fascinating past of Troy's various iterations from over 2000 years ago. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if we could have visited the Troy museum on the site, but I understand that is a lot to pack into a full day tour. Afterwards we took the ferry across the Dardanelles and went for lunch in Eceabat, which was simple and only average (but we weren't on the tour for the food!). We changed guides at that point and Ibrahim brought us on to Gallipoli. He was full of knowledge of the background of the battle and the factors that led to the ANZAC/British defeat. We visited so many sites in the Gallipoli Park and I was truly impressed with how gracious the Turks were in commemorating the soldiers that died invading their land. For anyone looking to see a lot of history in a full day then this trip is for you. We began and ended our trip in Çannakale but this group also runs trips to and from Istanbul, given that its about a 4 hours drive each way I would recommend spending a night in Çannakale, otherwise it would be a very long and tiring day.

I had booked the 'Troy and Gallipoli Tour from Çanakkale' through Viator and later discovered that I was charged nearly double the local rate. The tour itself was organized by a local agency, and had I booked directly with them, it would have been much more cost-effective. Based on this experience, I would not recommend using Viator.

I did not look forward to this tour, as war related highlights are outside of my areas of interest. However, the tour guide’s expertise and wonderful presentation converted me. Thank you Burak for this phenomenal experience !
