This walking tour of Reykjavik was on of the best tours we have been on in any city. My husband and I travel to many countries and have booked tours like this through Airbnb and Trip Advisors and by far this was one to remember, just fantastic. Lalli is a true historian and was engaging and funny! We would book additional tours with Funky Iceland on our next trip back.

Our guide, Lalli, did a really extraordinary job showing us around the commercial area of Reykjavík and telling us a lot of fascinating information about Iceland’s history. This tour was fantastic fun. Lalli is a great guy who really knows his stuff, and I would say, if you want to get started learning about this wonderful city and country, this tour is where you should begin. You’ll love it!

His knowledge is impressive, and his storytelling brings Iceland’s history to life in a memorable way. The pacing was perfect, with thoughtful stops to rest and take in the surroundings while he shared insights about his beautiful country. Lalli also offered helpful local tips that added extra value to the experience. You can tell he genuinely cares about his guests. Highly recommend that any visitor take a tour with Funky Iceland. Lalli was knowledgeable, engaging, and wove Iceland's history into a story with a strong through line. The funky history tour went well beyond the typical city tour that consists of simply pointing out landmarks and stating facts. He also shared tips for where to eat, which places to visit, and how to save a bit of money - perfect for my first day in Iceland.

Our family booked this tour online to do on our first full day in Iceland. Lalli, one of the owners, and the 50 something in line to be the King of Denmark (take the tour to hear the rest of the story), was our guide for the afternoon. His knowledge of Icelandic history and the way he tells it is engaging and fascinating. The walk and talk is well paced, with a number of stops to delve further into the history- or lack thereof - (again take the tour to hear about that). If you think “I can’t possibly walk for 2.5 hours without eating or going to the washroom!” Well, Lalli and Funky Iceland have you covered (take the tour to find out)! I would highly recommend the tour early in your trip if you want to hear the history, see downtown Reykjavik and perhaps get some financial advice (take the tour for that advice)! Great Tour!
