The tour guides are knowledgeable and experienced. Our tour guide was very personable and did his best to point out anything and everything we were interested in. The only reason I gave this four out of five it is that unfortunately nature does not go by our desires and we were unable to see a sloth or a toucan on this particular hike. On the other hand, we were treated to visions of three out of three of the species of monkeys that are in the area we also got to learn some anecdotal notes about some of the plants, insects, reptiles, and birds in the area.

Very good combination for those who want to enjoy the nature reserve by boat in the morning, following by a break and a walking tour later. Our guide was very knowledgeable and he took great care to explain to us how important and fragile the ecosystem is. He took his time and provided additional info. We managed to sloths, monkeys, countless lizards, colourful frogs and birds. Definitely excellent value for money and well organised, including binoculars, telescope, ponchos and rain boots. Perfect for families with kids

Tortugeuro Adventures was by far the best tour company as we could tell. Small (6.person) electric boat that could fit anywhere in the canals. Larger boats saw much less than we did because they did not fit and the large, noisy engines scared the wildlife. Also you should note that this tour company went further in the canal system and offered a very unique experience. Our guide for the day (Hector) was a absolutely exceptional. Pick Tortuguero Adventures. Special shoutout to Emanuel who went way over and above to make sure we were very well take care of. From finding us a private boat when we missed the public transport to Tortuguero to assisting us with our online purchases to the park when we had trouble.
