Hippodrome
The Hippodrome of Constantinople, now known as Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul, was an ancient chariot racing stadium and a major social center of the Byzantine Empire. Built by Roman Emperor Septimius Severus in the early 3rd century and later expanded by Emperor Constantine I, it could hold tens of thousands of spectators. Though much of the original structure is no longer visible, several historical monuments remain: - **The Obelisk of Theodosius**: A 3,500-year-old Egyptian obelisk brought to Constantinople by Emperor Theodosius I. - **The Serpent Column**: Originally from Delphi, Greece, this bronze column commemorates a Greek victory over the Persians. - **The Walled Obelisk**: A less ornate stone obelisk built during the reign of Constantine VII. The Hippodrome was not only a place for races but also for political events and gatherings, making it a key hub in Byzantine social and political life.
Blue Mosque
The Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is one of Istanbul's most famous landmarks and a prime example of classical Ottoman architecture. It was built between 1609 and 1616 during the reign of Sultan Ahmed I, The mosque is located near Hagia Sophia, creating a stunning architectural contrast between the two iconic structures. The mosque gets its nickname "Blue Mosque" from the more than 20,000 handmade İznik ceramic tiles that adorn its interior walls, many of which feature blue hues. These tiles, along with the mosque's interior lighting from over 200 stained glass windows, create a serene and luminous atmosphere. It is also a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the world who come to admire its stunning architecture, intricate tile work, and historical significance. The mosque's proximity to other historic sites like Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace makes it a central part of Istanbul's cultural and historical landscape.

Shaban our guide was on time, attentive and knowledgeable about the monuments we visited in Istanbul. We used tram to get to Sultanahmet square which was the best decision considering the traffic and weather in Istanbul today. Me and my husband had a wonderful time during our tour. Shaban explained all about the different dynasties and emperors during the different periods in Istanbul monarchy. Overall excellent experience exploring with Shaban. He told us before hand the restroom if at we wanted breaks and was flexible if we wanted to add or skip places. Guides have skip the line access in most of the places except for the ticket place in hajji Sofia, it wasn’t that busy today so we were okay. Overall I would recommend anyone wanting to visit Istanbul this tour so you get to experience all the monuments in a day. Thank you for a wonderful day.

It was our first time in Istanbul as a travelling party of six, and this experience was truly a must-do. We opted for a private tour so the itinerary could be fully bespoke to our interests, without feeling rushed—and it was the perfect choice. Kemal, our guide, was knowledgeable, warm, and incredibly helpful. He also doubled up as our photographer, capturing great moments with what he calls “the best iPhone in the world.” 😄 With so many major sights to see in Istanbul, we were glad to have covered the highlights in just one day, all at a comfortable pace. Thank you, Kemal, for being such a fantastic guide and for making our first day in Istanbul so memorable.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience touring Istanbul with Kemal Mustafa. He guided us through all the major sites – Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar – and made the entire day incredibly smooth and enjoyable. Kemal was extremely kind, patient, and very knowledgeable about the history, culture and hidden stories behind each place. He explained everything in such a clear and engaging way that we truly felt connected to the city’s rich past. He also looked after us throughout the day, made sure we were comfortable, and gave us great tips about local food, traditions, and what to explore further.
