  We were looking for a boat trip that didn't feel very mass touristy and we succeeded. The guide told us at the floating fishing village about the fish and that was very interesting and fun. It is not a luxury party boat, but just fine amenities. On top of the deck you can sunbathe or sit in the shade. There is a toilet on board and downstairs you can sit fine for lunch, which was nice. We swam from the boat and were able to canoe between the rocks. Our English-speaking guide was also fine. 3 stars instead of 4 because our guide had fallen asleep. We ended up doing everything on the schedule and he was awake where it had to be, but still one asterisk less because of it. This boat attracts a little more the same type of people, namely people who enjoy authentic more, than luxury 👍 therefore recommended who wants to book more of a remote tour.

  We went with my partner and the experience was amazing. We were only 25 on the boat so we could talk and ask whatever we wanted and got deep into the vietnamese culture. The tour was exactly as advertised, they really avoid the crowd so you can enjoy a clear sea view. The staff (Hoan, Tom and their family) were very welcoming, Hoan explains everything with passion and love. They made us feel comfortable in every moment, the food was better than most vietnamese restaurant we went, they changed the menu because there were a lot of veggie people in the crowd. The boat is super clean. We loved it, we recommend it 100%.

  Our guide was fantastic, but the boat tour we went on was not at all what we booked and others on the boat had to he same concern. After extensively reading through all of the different tours and choosing the one that best met what we wanted to do, it was very disappointing to experience something totally different.

  Definetly the best tour choice we made so far in Vietnam. Apart from the great scenary the most remarkable thing about the trip was our guide Tyler!! His energy was impecable, he gave us a ton of information about life and nature in the bay and answered all of our questions, not only about the bay, but about the culture in Vietnam, recommendations and a lot more!! In addition, this company booked a direct bus from our homestay in cat ba to our next destination (Nihn Bihn) with the most confortable bus. As we only were spending the day of the tour in cat ba and our homestay was a little bit far from town we wanted to stay for the rest of the afternoon in town and Tyler was the most helpful soul!! He arranged so we could leave our bags at their place, recommended places to visit and to have dinner and he then booked a taxi for us when we were done! Overall the best guide we’ve had so far! His excitement and young energy are contagious. Love from Spain, Ane and friends <3.

  The tour is hosted by Ryan who is passionate and knowledgeable as a local who grew up on the water. A true down to earth experience provided by his family with his uncle driving the boat and aunt preparing a generous meal with seven different dishes. Ryan’s joy in his culture and surrounds is infectious and makes the tour and irreplaceable treat

  It was a nice trip with a motivated guide! Also, the food was very good with many vegetarian options. The reason why I don't give 5 stars is because the agenda was not really what is stated in the description. It is just the same as all the other companies.

  It was really well organized. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. It was a very pleasant day, Ryan is very nice and explained a lot to us. I recommend with my eyes closed!

  Ride was perfectly organized. Luu gave us comprehensive information about the coves, wildlife and life of the people there. He has answered any questions. Captain and cook also top. The tour was a lot of fun and we would book it again anytime. Thank you very much

  I had such a great experience on this tour and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Cát Bà Island. It was much less touristy than I expected — while we did see a few other groups around the kayaking and fishing farm areas, we mostly had the freedom to do our own thing, which made it feel very relaxed and authentic. The group size was small and intimate, which I really appreciated. You could easily chat and get to know the others or just enjoy the scenery quietly on your own. There was also plenty of space on the boat, which made the whole day feel comfortable and unhurried. Our guide, Ryan, was exceptional. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, the culture, and the environment, and he patiently answered all of my many questions. His passion and depth of knowledge were so impressive that even people from other tours started listening in to what he was saying! His English was excellent as well. I’ll admit I was skeptical before booking, but I’m so glad I chose Cát Bà Local — many of the other tours we saw looked crowded and less enjoyable. This one felt genuine, well-organized, and personal. I’d recommend it without hesitation to friends, family, or anyone looking for an authentic and memorable experience on Cát Bà.

  A great tour! Luu really managed to lead us to lonely places throughout, away from the crowds! Besides, he didn't tell much about life in Vietnam. He has also found particularly beautiful places for kayaking and swimming. A completely successful tour!
