Kilim Geoforest Park
Travel by boat through the twists and turns of the Kilim river through the maze created by aerial roots and thick fleshy leaves of the mangrove trees. We often see mangrove animals that make their home in this delicately balanced ecosystem which is responsible for the health and wide variety of species in the Andaman Sea. We also explore how the mangrove area is a perfect environment for cottage industries such as fish farms. Our first stop is The boatman will stop the engine and throw some chicken pieces out into the water to invite the eagles. And in no time you will see eagles diving down just next to you and clawing up the chicken pieces and eating them as they soar into the sky. As we venture out of the mangroves you will see majestic limestone rock formations and sea stacks that rise dramatically from the ocean. This ancient coral thrust into the sky millions of years ago is home to a unique and ancient group of plants found no where else on earth.

We were scheduled for a 9:00am pick up. Driver showed up at 9:40, and then had to make a second stop. Didn’t get on a boat until 11:00am. There was only 1 tour guide for 3 boats so most of the excursion we didn’t even have a guide. We stoped at the bat caves and it was so crowded, we couldn’t get close to our guide, so we had no idea what we were looking at. We had a stop at a beach that wasn’t even listed on our tour description, so we didn’t have swim suits, and had to just stand on the beach for 40 min. We had a good lunch, and then went back to to the harbor, where we waited another 30 minutes to get a shuttle back to our cruise ship. Overall a very poor excursion in a beautiful place

Very entertaining excursion through the Langkawi mangrove. We were picked up at the hotel itself to take us to the port from which the boat left, about 25 minutes away. The tour lasts three hours, two of them on a crossing. The guide does not give many explanations, but visits a fish and shellfish farm and the cave of bats. The experience is worthwhile, although perhaps a little more walking on the ground would be appreciated.

An excellent day with a superb guide. Nice visit to the bat cave, being able to see some birds and stopping at a beach

Kilim Geopark was a true natural wonder and our guide Ali made it a very special day. There was a lot of interesting things to see. That being said there was a real problem with transportation to and from the cruise terminal. We contacted the operator through the Viator app the day before the tour to confirm pickup details and received a prompt response. The day of the tour the driver arrived 45 minutes and we had to call him. We learned from other passengers that they had also experienced similar delays. As for the ride to the park we found the van to be very crowded and in poor condition. It was not what we have come to expect from a Viator tour.

The bat cave was disappointing as we saw about 3 bats, the mangroves however were great and the boat journey was fast and a lot of fun. We went to a beautiful beach which was actually in Thailand, we had to ensure no sand went back onto the boat so the captain washed our feet with water before we got back on. Both myself and another traveller slipped as we got back on the boat. The driver of the minibus who picked us up from the port was very grumpy, the minibus was very cramped and we had to wait half an hour for 2 guests who were late. My husband said did we have to wait for them and the driver told us to pay to get a taxi if we weren't happy

We had difficulty finding our driver who was late. The boats through mangrove were difficult to get in and out of which we had to do frequently. The boat driver was racing the boat much too fast with other boats and we had no life jackets. I thought the boat was going to crash or tip over several times. The stops were not very good— a bat cave we had to go through in the dark, 30 minutes on a small beach, 30 minutes to watch fish feed. Our original driver didn’t plan to come back to drive us home so we had to get a taxi back. Very disappointing tour.

The boat trip was great but didn’t like the look of the fish farm with the captive Ray in one small area being man handled by all and sundry. It would have been good to have seen the eagles and kites without them being fed so frequently from the boats. Lunch was ok.

We recently joined this mangrove tour in Langkawi and had a fantastic experience overall. The guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the entire journey both informative and enjoyable. Watching the eagles soar and dive up close was absolutely breathtaking — a true highlight of the trip. The captain clearly enjoyed navigating the boat, making the ride even more fun with his skillful and enthusiastic driving. The included meal was simple but good. However, we had some issues with the transportation service. We had to wait about an hour for pick-up at the start of the tour, and the return trip was delayed by an additional 20 minutes. This was a bit inconvenient and is the reason we are giving 4 out of 5 stars instead of a perfect score. Despite the minor transport hiccups, we would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Langkawi!
