Whisky Village
A unique little village on the banks of the Mekong River. Ban Xang Hai, is also known as whisky village, is famous for their handicraft products like distilling and selling whisky, hand woven fabric and jewelry.
Pak Ou Caves
These two caves are located some 25km from Luang Prabang where the Nam Ou River flows into the Meking. The journey on a slow moving longboat to caves is decidedly picturesque. Motoring upriver you can see locals fishing and listen to the joyful laugher of children splashing in the water. The caves are revered throughout Laos and a very popular place for tourists and pilgrimsalike. There are some 4000 statyes abd statyettes in the caves, mostly of the Buddha, many stukk covered with paper thin gilding. The first cave is reached by a steep staircase from the river’s edge, while the second cave is a little deeper inside the mountain: bring a torchilight!

Do not do this long day tour. Do two half-day tours. The cave and waterfalls are in OPPOSITE directions.

Nice place.the falls are well maintained, but quiet crowded. The way to the falls is also interesting, nice landscape .

This a must do tour - covers main highlights outside the city - loved everything - bears, waterfalls, elephants, Buddha cave, Whiskey Village & river ride. Our guide Vone was excellent - we learned a lot about his culture & history of Laos.

This was an excellent tour. The first half of the day we had a different guide who was maybe a bit less experienced. He wasn’t very interactive and didn’t speak much on the long drive but did show us where to go when we got to the waterfall and the bear sanctuary. This was fine for us as we were happy to explore on our own. After the waterfall we were all driven to a small craft town and then an Elephant sanctuary for lunch. The buffet lunch was plentiful and tasty and was served with as much beer or soft drink as you wanted. At the point we joined other groups and had a new guide Mr Pong who took us by boat to see the whisky village and also the caves. Mr Pong was an excellent guide, fun and interesting. This made our tour much better than it had been in the morning. Loved that this tour ended with a sunset cruise back into Luang Prabang. I would highly recommend this tour.
