Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. Glad we got a small table for 2, however we’re seated far from stage. Went on train ride but missed all the vendors when we returned. Train announcer was fun and energetic, telling Dad jokes and Hawaiian story. Show was mediocre couldn’t hear performers maybe test sound system from various areas.

We were so hot during the dinner and show that I was ready for it to end and couldn’t concentrate on the performance. Everyone was fanning themselves and this wasn’t even during the really hot months (October 3) There were no fans or air circulation in the tent and way too many bodies under that tent to not have at least some fans. The open bar drinks were small (I liked the Mai tai), but it was so hot I didn’t want to get up and get another drink. The food left much to be desired and was quite disappointing. You do not see them roast the pig or pull it out of the ground. We had to wait in line for a long while to enter and then there was very little time to peruse the vendors selling their crafts/treats. We opted for the train and within 1 minute or less of the start of the train ride, the train derailed and we had to get off and then request a refund for the train rather than it being automatic (train was ultimately refunded). The fire dancers were cool but just a small part of the show and it was hard to see since we were so far back because there were so many tables. Bathroom were hot and not well ventilated and full of bugs and spiders. Overall, this was quite disappointing for how much we paid versus what we got. Because there were so many people and one exit for cars/busses, it took forever to exit the parking lot, similar to exiting a sports arena parking lot. Would recommend you find a different luau or excursion.

The shows was absolutely amazing. The staff was friendly and the drinks were strong. The food and desert were great! There was more than enough to go around for more. We will definitely book Thai experience again.
