Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

The show was amazing! The story fully captivates you and draws you in. The service was great and hostesses and hosts executed great. We opted for the train ride which was very nice add to see the plantation. The only bad part about it is we missed the vendors and the pictures because they happened during the train ride. By the time the train came back into the station everything was closing up to start the show. The food was okay, not great but good enough.

We got the transfer, train ride and luau package. Our driver Chris was friendly and very skilled driving the big bus. The train ride was great, we enjoyed seeing the flowers, fruit crops and animals along the way and hearing about them. The covered outdoor area where the actual luau was nice and protected us from the rain. The food was good and the staff were friendly and well organized. We received beautiful fresh flower leis. The show was better than other luau shows I’ve been to . I appreciated getting a program that explained the story before watching it. I definitely recommend this show and venue. A+++

It was wonderful. I’m glad we splurged on the full package. The food was delicious and plentiful. The atmosphere was charged. And the story was powerful. It was definitely the best way to end our trip to Kaua’i. The train ride was very informative. We learned something new, learned to hula, and enjoyed the music.

The meal was excellent, buffet style is best, like they had it set up and the opening of the lava oven demonstration was very good. Open bar is nice to have also with a lot of variety of drinks. The luau show and dancing were excellent. Probably the best we saw in the 3 luaus we went to. However, the story was hard to follow explained mostly in another language. Fire throwing was very, very good. Overall a very nice luau. It would have been nice to have the venue be air conditioned though. There is very little air flow under the large roof and most people are not used to the intense heat in Hawaii.

I would really recommend this experience foe families. The train ride provides a good overview of the property and access to feeding their animals. The luau was engaging and provided a good story. I would recommendbeing a little early to get through the checkin line. Once through the line go find your table. The seats at the table are first come first serve. Once you have your seats grab a drink and head over to the local vendors. They will not be open after the train ride. The only disappointment was the food. There were very few local options. If I had not already seen the show I would book it again.
