This is a once in a lifetime experience to see this natural phenomenon of the luminous lagoon. Once you've booked, you will be picked up from your hotel, AirBNB, Guesthouse are where ever you are staying within the Montego Bay area on a 35 minute drive [depending on which hotel you are staying] to the Location where you will be welcome by your host Dennis upon arrival, who will offer you a complimentary drink, a choice of unique blended Jamaican rum punch, or a bottle of naturel spring water before you board the boat, for a short ride out in the lagoon. As the night get darker, the water naturally lights up when you jump in or play with it, don't miss the opportunity to jump in.

you will be in the water for roughly 30 minutes, where you will have a chance to swim around in that magical glistening water. make sure you have your swim suit and towel and dry clothes.

Its Important to note that this is a natural attraction, so it may not glow has bright if the moon is full or if rains.

What To Expect

The luminous Lagoon Glistening waters, located in the historic town of Falmoth in western Jamaica is one of the rare phenomenon bioluminescence occurs. Travelers will have a once in a lifetime chance of experiencing this magical experience, has they will have that chance to swim around after been transported by a bout to where it happens. you will be picked up from your hotel by a representative of esteentours and transported to the location by road along the beautiful scenic north coast on a 35 minute drive depending on the resort you are at, when you arrive at the location, you will be greeted by your host Dennis has he welcomes you and greet you with a choice of his own blended rum punch or a bottle of cool refreshing bottled spring water. has it gets dark you will board the boat, and taken for a short ride magic to where the magic happens. your trusted guide will tell you all about it and will allow you to experience the moment. total time on the water is 40 minutes.

Luminous Lagoon: we were picked up at our hotel on time by Errol. Errol gave us a great history of the island and of course the impending hurricane update on Melissa due to hit in 2 days. Errol is super knowledgable and very safe driver, especially on the very dark drive to the lagoon. Our drive from MoBay was about 45 minutes. Once we arrived we were greeted and offered refreshments on the covered dock. EXCELLENT rum punch! We boarded the boat with Captain Adonis at the helm and 1st mate Scratchy. They gave us a great history of the lagoon and the cause for the ‘glow’. Captain Adonis showed us how to get the best ‘luminescence’ and we got in the water. They have life jackets for use. Once in the water they instructed us on how to get ‘the glow’. FYI: try not to walk on the bottom as it will stir up sediment and reduce the glow…float and move your hands back and forth. Captain Adonis did say that we would not see a vibrant glow because it had rain in the past several hours-still raining off and on, but a tropical storm was brewing. We swam and the luminescence glowed softly around us as captain Adonis took our photos. There is a ladder to get back in the boat which was very easy-especially if you have knee issues. Bilateral knee replacement friendly. Pictures turned out great!! Overall captain Adonis & Scratchy we hospitable and informative. Errol drove us safely back to our hotel with the soft sounds of Reggae. Awesome time! Thank you to Buzzo’s Boats & the team

Didn't enjoy this tour as I nearly drowned, as my life jacket was tightened properly by the tour guide, in fact it wasn't a life jacket it was a ring.

This was an interesting experience. The staff members were nice, attentive,and strongly concern about safety, which I appreciated. I believe the photos that advertised this excursion were digitally enhanced. Because after the boat circled around a few times before anchoring. The waters still weren't as laminated as the advertised photos. I was the first one in the dark waters which are extremely cold on top but like warm bath water underneath. Crazy right!! But true. I wore myself out threading the waters trying to get the perfect illuminated photos. But overall it was a great appearance. I would definitely recommend. Just know the illumination will not be what you expect.

SO MUCH fun!!! It made my whole trip. A shame - had to go on excursions off the resort to enjoy Jamaica. The sunset was amazing!

Very nice experience. Everybody was friendly from our driver to the host at the dock, and boat drivers. And the glowing water is unbelievable - definitely recommend!!

Was intrigued to see the blue bioluminescence of the micro organisms in the water. They are completely beautiful to see when someone is swimming or jumping in the water. Once in a lifetime experience.
research the algae first, and you'll find it's not safe to swim in.

the algae that glows is toxic to plants and animals, and shouldnt be touched, there is a reason why locals dont swim in the water at night.

What a wonderful activity! Errol picked us up from our hotel on time to bring us to the lagoon. He gave us a run down of Jamaica on the way in. We were offered rum punch or water upon arrival at the location where we waited a short time for other folks. The boat was a little loud but once we’re in the lagoon, the engine was turned off along with the lights. There, among our tour boats operating in the area, we use the orange life jackets as flotation devices and jumped in. Highly recommend.
