Thanks Allina! Wonderful walk around town. So many places to see, so much history. In the afternoon we returned to look more in depth at the Lit and Phil and the castle. Great lunch recommendations!

Michael made this a fun and fact filled experience. The tour itself was created to meet our needs and preferences and delivered at a pace that seated our group. Not even one pothole in Sight!

I fault the tour company for its false advertising. The guide was not a knowledgable local but a recent transplant from another country whose native language was not English. He knew little about the places we visited aand instead relied on reading from his phone or from posted signs at the attractions. We could have done this ourselves on a self-guided tour and saved a ton of money. I don't fault the guide... he did the best he could but because English wasn't his first language he misprounced many words so in addition to not knowing much, we couldn't understand a lot of what he said either. I fault this company for not hiring qualified guides... people who are really from Newcastle and can answer questions about its history. Stay away

Michael was knowledgable and gave us a fun experience. We love learning about places we visit and this certainly fit the bill. We know know that anything of any value in the world started in Newcastle 😂 I’m partially sighted, and amicuael was very helpful in pointing out steps and kerbs as we approached them.

If you’re considering a walking tour of Newcastle, don’t hesitate to book with Michael – he’s simply outstanding. From start to finish, this tour was a masterclass in organisation and storytelling. Before the tour even started, the communication was spot on. Michael reached out with clear details about the meeting point, what to expect, and even some tips for making the most of the experience. It was clear from the start that he genuinely cared about creating a great experience. The tour itself was fantastic. Michael’s knowledge of Newcastle is second to none – he doesn’t just know the facts, he brings them to life with his passion and incredible storytelling. He has a way of weaving history, local legends, and fun anecdotes together that keeps you hooked from the very first stop. What really stood out was Michael’s enthusiasm for the city. You can tell he loves Newcastle, and that energy is infectious. Whether you’re a local or visiting for the first time, you’ll walk away seeing the city in a completely new light. The pace of the tour was perfect, and Michael was always checking in to make sure everyone was comfortable. It was well-organised, relaxed, and felt tailored to our group’s interests. If you’re after a tour that’s informative, entertaining, and completely hassle-free, Michael is your guy. Highly recommended!

I went on this tour with Micheal. He was very happy. And knew a lot about the city. The tour covers a lot and I learned a lot. It was totally worth doing and well organized. Very nice.

Mike could not have judged things more perfectly. His knowledge was thorough and his delivery both humorous and lively. As a typical cynical Londoner was sceptical when he announced Newcastle as of central importance to the UKs standing today and historically. However he went on to completely justify this claim over the next 3 hours which flew by in telling me about the production of coal; the steam locomotive; the turbine engine; the incandescent lightbulb ( no it wasn’t Edison as he merely patented Swann invention); the first breech loaded gun by Armstrong which was then flogged to both sides in the US civil war. I personally love it to have my preconceived views completely overturned. I just wish I’d been able to persuade my son to join me whilst visiting him but then he s up here as a student with other priorities but at least I have been able to explain to him why his internationally acclaimed engineering degree is based in Newcastle and hopefully he ll join me on the next tour with Mike. He does a ghostie tour as well which I’m eager for on my next northerly visit.

Bryony was a very kind tour guide and showed us by food the places to be in Newcastle. She always asked about our preferences and gave us the time we needed at the places we visited, which was positiv. But during the walk when asked for more facts about the history (not very specifc or deep) or the surrounding and these questions she had to pass the answer. For us, this didn´t bordered us (sometimes we googled ourselves) to much, but that´s the reason why we wouldn´t recommend the tour to others who are more interested in history.

Our guide, Michael, was knowledgeable and very well prepared. He presented drawings and maps to help emphasize the wonderful history of all the stops we made during our walk. His local experience, having lived in the Newcastle area of England, was very colorful and passionate.
