During this full-day journey I will take you to a traditional olive orchard to learn about olive oil production. I'll also take you to the historic village of Belchite.
Join me on an exciting escape to the Zaragoza countryside! We'll tour the grounds, visiting the centenary olive trees, and indulge in a tasting of oil made of the local Empeltre olive. Next, we'll continue on our journey to the ancient village of Belchite, which today serves as a memorial for the Spanish Civil War. Some of my favorite movies were shot in this remarkable ghost town, including Guillermo del Toro's famous Pan's Labyrinth. I'll share with you my experiences in Zaragoza and suggest fun activities for the rest of your trip!

Jorge and Marta were wonderful guides and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the delicious olive oil and the historical experience of Belchite - a timely reminder of how things can go wrong during polarized times. The 500 year old olive tree was a gift to see.

If you book thinking this is a private tour as we did you might be disappointed as we had to share the tour with another couple which made the seating arrangements in the car provided some what uncomfortable

Having now completed tours and activities in both Madrid and Barcelona, this was the surprise tour that far exceeded our expectations. We set up this tour with an interest in seeing what the olive oil process is like. That part of the tour was fascinating! We got to walk amongst the olive trees, go through the production facility, and taste and buy some delicious oils! Following the olive oil tour, we went to the ruins of Belchite. Not being from Spain, we were not aware of the historic significance of Belchite. The tour of the ruins from Spanish Civil War was incredible and touching. Jorge taught us so much during the stroll through old Belchite. We purposefully stopped in Zaragoza on our way from Madrid to Barcelona to see the Aragon region and ended up having one of our favorite tours while in Spain. While in Zaragoza, this tour is highly recommended.

Jorge is a wonderful guide. Excellent knowledge of Zarrahoza and surrounding area as well as other regions. He is a foody. Arranged for us to enjoy the best tapas we've had to date in Zarragoza and a list of food references for Sam Sebastian. The tour provided historical insight we would not have gained otherwise. My appreciation of the Spanish Civil War came through the writing of people like Hemingway and Neruda. The local tour guide at Belchite gave an impassioned explanation of the towns destruction, twice no less, which Jorge passed on to us in English. The olive tree that is hundreds of years old is a site to see. The press operations were interesting and contributing greatly to my appreciation of the region. I highly recommend the tour to everyone.
