During this full-day journey I will take you to a traditional olive orchard to learn about olive oil production. I'll also take you to the historic village of Belchite.
Join me on an exciting escape to the Zaragoza countryside! We'll tour the grounds, visiting the centenary olive trees, and indulge in a tasting of oil made of the local Empeltre olive. Next, we'll continue on our journey to the ancient village of Belchite, which today serves as a memorial for the Spanish Civil War. Some of my favorite movies were shot in this remarkable ghost town, including Guillermo del Toro's famous Pan's Labyrinth. I'll share with you my experiences in Zaragoza and suggest fun activities for the rest of your trip!

The tour met all our expectations. We were lucky enough to be joined by your guide Jorge, who explained everything perfectly and took all our suggestions. He was an exceptional guide. Thank you very much

We love doing a private tour and this was no exception. Our guide Jorge was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, easy to understand and willing to even make a stop for coffee. The olive oil tour was really interesting but so too was the Belchite town. Extremely sad event but so interesting to see and understand what happened.

Jorge and Marta were wonderful guides and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the delicious olive oil and the historical experience of Belchite - a timely reminder of how things can go wrong during polarized times. The 500 year old olive tree was a gift to see.

If you book thinking this is a private tour as we did you might be disappointed as we had to share the tour with another couple which made the seating arrangements in the car provided some what uncomfortable

We had a great time with Marta, our private tour guide. The visit to the olive oil factory was excellent and much better than I expected it would be. They had a great video with an interesting story and the company representative answered a lot of questions and gave us a lot of insights. They had to substitute another winery due to issues beyond their control. The small family owned business was interesting made us feel very welcome. Very generous with meat and cheese at the tasting. Marta was great and we soon felt like we were on road trip with a good friend. If you are a fan of history, I would certainly explore the possibility of combining the olive oil tour with a visit to the Belchite ghost town. We haven’t done it, but it’s something I’m going to look into next visit. Highly recommend you consider using these folks for your tours out of Zaragosa.

Marta picked us up from the hotel & took us to Belchite Old Town. She was was very personable & an excellent tour guide. She provided a lot of information on the Civil War & the battles around the area. She was also able reply to any questions we had. A great day out & highly recommended.

Marta gives an outstanding tour !! The Olive Tasting was interesting and I really like the EVOO I chose after learning about different varieties. Stepping back in time to the Spanish Civil War in 1937 was very informative and well presented. Marta made sure I understood the presentations that are in Spanish, I highly recommend this tour.

This was a wonderful tour of an olive oil facility and of the ruins of the town of Belchite, dating to the Spanish Civil War in 1938. The tour of the olive oil facility was interesting but the main draw for me was Belchite and the Civil War history. Jorge picked us up at the hotel along with another couple, and drove us to the tour locations. He was very interesting, knowledgeable, and personable. We very much enjoyed the day!

When I visited the olive oil press, they were in the middle of the harvest so I was able to see the collection and pressing of the olives first hand. I also had the pleasure of seeing the oldest olive tree in the region on a beautiful, secluded farm. However, the highlight of the trip was the old Belchite town. If you are interested in the history of the Spanish Civil War, this is something you need to see. Jorge, my tour guide, was excellent - he answered my (many) questions about the history of Spain and its current affairs. Highly recommended. Thank you!

Having now completed tours and activities in both Madrid and Barcelona, this was the surprise tour that far exceeded our expectations. We set up this tour with an interest in seeing what the olive oil process is like. That part of the tour was fascinating! We got to walk amongst the olive trees, go through the production facility, and taste and buy some delicious oils! Following the olive oil tour, we went to the ruins of Belchite. Not being from Spain, we were not aware of the historic significance of Belchite. The tour of the ruins from Spanish Civil War was incredible and touching. Jorge taught us so much during the stroll through old Belchite. We purposefully stopped in Zaragoza on our way from Madrid to Barcelona to see the Aragon region and ended up having one of our favorite tours while in Spain. While in Zaragoza, this tour is highly recommended.
