What To Expect
Experience the rich flavors and traditions of Sri Lankan village life through this hands-on cooking class designed especially for travelers. You’ll be welcomed with a refreshing herbal drink like Belimal with Hakuru (dried belimal flower tea with natural palm sugar), followed by an introduction to Sri Lanka’s most beloved spices and ingredients. Together, we’ll prepare a variety of traditional Sri Lankan dishes, using methods passed down through generations. You’ll cook using clay pots, coconut spoons, and even a firewood stove for an authentic village-style experience. Some of the items you may learn to cook include: Parippu (Red Lentil Curry) Pol Sambol (Coconut Salad) Jackfruit or Mango Curry Pol Roti (Coconut Flatbread) Halapa (Sweet jaggery and kurakkan leaf snack) Brinjal Moju (Spicy-sweet eggplant pickle) Steamed Rice with traditional accompaniments While cooking, you’ll also learn about the health benefits of local ingredients such as turmeric, moringa, and cinnamon. Once cooking is done, sit down and enjoy the full meal you’ve prepared. The experience is interactive, fun, and perfect for anyone curious about authentic Sri Lankan life and cuisine.

5.00We asked in advance to try as many different dishes as possible. So we had a wide experience of the local cuisine. This was well paid for. From main courses to dessert. They showed it first and then we could get started. During the whole process we were helped by the woman and her daughter. This was really a very nice experience and we can definitely recommend.

5.00The cooking class was very nice, the host explained everything, they were very kind, we all participated a lot in the making of the dinner. It was delicious, very tasty with a lot of differents dishes ! I recommend it a lot !
