Out of respect for all participants, the tour will start on time. Guests arriving late cannot join, reschedule, or receive a refund.
Vegetarian course is available only with advance request. Same-day requests cannot be accommodated.
Takoyaki contains dashi (fish broth) and octopus, and cannot be substituted. For those unable to eat it, we may offer extra matcha desserts instead.
We are unable to accommodate vegan, gluten-free, or shellfish allergy requests for this tour.
Please note that meals are prepared in partner restaurants, not by MagicalTrip. Therefore, we cannot guarantee allergy-free food or complete adjustments for dietary restrictions. In some cases, substitutions may not be possible, but we will make every effort to provide alternatives at other stops.
Children aged 3 and under may join their parents, but meals are not provided for them.
Maximum group size is 6 guests plus the guide. Please note there may be other participants in the group unless you book a private tour.
The tour involves about 2–3 km of walking at a leisurely pace. Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
Moderate attire is appreciated in kaiseki restaurants (please avoid off-shoulder tops).
Drinks: tea and water are included at the kaiseki restaurant. Other drinks (alcoholic and soft drinks) are available for purchase.
You do not need to cover the guide’s food or drinks.
The tour operates rain or shine. In case of extreme weather, we will contact you about changes.
What To Expect
Hibuse Pottery Shrine
Visit the historic Pottery Shrine Meet your guide at the meeting point and start with a quick visit to the Pottery Shrine, where locals once prayed for protection from fire and prosperity in ceramics. It’s the perfect way to connect with the spirit of Japanese dining, since seasonality and tableware are deeply tied to washoku. Originally enshrined in Utsubonami-dori 1-chome, Nishi Ward, Osaka City, it was relocated to its current site due to the laying of the city tram line and road expansion at the end of the Meiji period. At the main shrine, you may notice white paper crosses. These originate from shikigami (ritual spirits) and gohei (sacred paper streamers). In traditional Japanese Onmyodo practice, shikigami are talismanic charms used to ward off evil and grant prayers. The cross-shaped pattern symbolizes protection and the dispelling of negative energy. You might also recognize a similar scene in the famous film Spirited Away.

5.00If you're looking for an authentic Japanese food experience, this food tour is for you. Peco, our guide was excellent! She is lovely, lively and an impressive person. The tour started with a stroll through several different neighborhoods of Osaka, including some beautiful small shrines tucked away in the city. We got to experience a Michelin star restaurant that offered a tasting menu, based on seasonal varieties-this was a "sit down" tour, but it was a welcomed change. After that we got to walk to a Michelin recognized small "hole in the wall" where we got to enjoy the soul of Osaka-Takoyaki. The tour ended with matcha ice cream from a tea shop that has been around since 1865. Throughout the tour, Peco spent time educating us about historical and evolutionary changes of the city. She went above and beyond, and we were a grateful bunch. Okini, Peco!

5.00We had a wonderful time on this tiur with Peco! She could answer all of our questions about Japanese food or traditions and pointed out a lot of very interesting buildings and places that we were walking by! The tour focuses on lunch at a 1-star Michelin restaurant followed by Bib Michelin street food Okonomiyaki and concluding with a matcha ice cream/green tea for dessert. We really enjoyed all 3 places, Peco's explanations about the food and her company in general. She also sent us some cool recommendations for places to visit in Osaka! I can recommend this tour for any foodies who would like to also hear some more about the food, culture and history of Osaka.

5.00Our guide Chie was lovely! She taught me how to write my name in Japanese katana characters. If you want a food experience that goes beyond sampling street food, this is the food tour for you. The restaurant meal was a high end experience of traditional kaiseki cuisine served on authentic porcelain from the Osaka region. We did grab some octopus balls street food as well as matcha treats from a vendor with over 160 years in business!

5.00Our guide Peco was absolutely wonderful on this Michelin Food Tour! The restaurant we went to was beautiful and of course the food was first class. After lunch Peco then showed us around the lively streets and shopping areas where we tried different cooking broths and made some purchases. Peco was extremely knowledgeable and also gave us invaluable assistance with returning back to Kyoto on the train. A wonderful afternoon and experience and would highly recommend Peco as a guide. Peco is very bubbly and friendly and we communicated very satisfactorily.
