What To Expect

Gatun Lake

We start the day with pick ups in Panama City. Your day begins with a journey into one of the most fascinating intersections of nature and engineering in the world: Gatun Lake, a vast manmade lake that forms a critical part of the Panama Canal. You'll board a covered motorboat and set off on a wildlife safari through its winding channels and jungle-lined shores. As you cruise across the iconic Panama Canal, you’ll glide past enormous cargo ships and ocean liners, sharing the lake with vessels from around the world. Your expert local guide will take you off the main canal route and into the hidden backwaters and narrow inlets where the jungle comes alive. Keep your camera ready for capuchin monkeys, tamarin monkeys howler monkeys, sloths, iguanas, toucans, crocodiles, and even basilisk lizards that run across the water. The boat ride offers both awe-inspiring views and rare up-close encounters with Panama’s diverse wildlife.

Daniel was so informative and friendly. Told us about the panama canal and the ships that go through there and the history, it was amazing! We didn't get to see much wild life wish we had known to go in the morning.

We had a great time on the tour, our guide, César, was great and spoke very good English and told us a lot about the canal but also Panama in general. The canal and waterways around the area were beautiful. We had a monkey that came right on our boat. The meal in Casco Antiguo was great and the surroundings in the square were incredible. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Panama.

“Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and patient, which made the experience enjoyable and easy to follow. The tour itself was interesting and well organized, although we only saw a few monkeys. The highlight of the day was definitely lunch in Casco Viejo—it was absolutely the best part!”

Cesar was a great tour guide. He was very friendly. He was also very knowledgeable and encouraged questions about the history of the Canal. The brunch options were very delicious. The hot sauce was very spicy lol.
