What To Expect

We’ll meet at the Opera (Grand Theatre) and take a short, scenic stroll down one of the most famous Bordeaux boulevards, passing charming cafés and boutiques. If you wish, we can stop by a local wine shop to pick up a bottle to enjoy with the class. Once we arrive at my apartment, we'll get to know each other over an apéro—a drink and small bites- and I'll introduce our menu for the evening. You’ll be provided with your own apron, knife, cutting board, and recipe card. I'll demonstrate the steps and you're invited to participate in the cooking as much or as little as you're comfortable with. We’ll make the dessert first so it has time to set or bake, and then make a main dish. Sample dishes we may prepare include: Vegetable Blanquette Tomato Tarte Tatin Chou Farci Chocolate Mousse Seasonal Fruit Clafoutis Verrines After cooking, we’ll enjoy conversation and laughter over a beautiful candlelit dinner. I’ll also be happy to offer my recommendations for discovering Bordeaux. Please note: Due to regulations, I cannot serve alcohol, but you are welcome to bring your own wine to enjoy with the class.

    Sarala was a fabulous host/chef. My wife and I had the evening with just us and Sarala and it felt like having dinner with a friend. She took classic Bordelaise dishes and made them vegan. Beet tartare instead of beef tartare was brilliant. She used coconut cream instead of cream for the soup which was delicious. We will definitely book this again next time we are in Bordeaux.

    I thoroughly enjoyed my evening with Sarala. I am not vegan, but thought I would learn some recipes for my daughter. Sarala has a gorgeous, comfortable apartment, is very knowledgeable and creative in vegan cooking, and is a warm, genuine person. I highly recommend this class. I had a lovely time.

    We were 3 Irish friends in Bordeaux for 2 nights and looking to do something foodie and interesting. This cooking experience with Sarala was a lovely, interesting and inspiring evening with her take on French classic dishes using only plant based ingredients. Sarala was a supreme hostess, balancing cooking lessons and thoughts on life in Bordeaux, all while making us feel so welcome in her home. My favourite part of the cooking lesson was making the creme brulé 🔥 and just the fun conversation over the evening. This was a very unique and unforgettable evening. Thank you again Sarala 🙏

    Sarala is a fantastic host. She explained the ingredients that we would be using, the process for making the dishes, and helped us make a delicious meal and dessert. Along the way, she told us about various options for making similar dishes at home. In short, both the food and the experience were excellent!

    I had such a lovely time at this cozy cooking workshop! The setting was charming and full of French character, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Sarala our hostess was friendly, well-informed, and made the whole experience enjoyable and accessible.     I spent a wonderful evening at this intimate cooking class. The venue is beautifully decorated and authentically French. The host was delightful, knowledgeable and the class was easy to follow. Making traditional French dishes with no animal products was a unique experience. I would definitely recommend this for all ages

    Wonderfully comfortable experience where my family learned about French dining, cuisine, and of course preparing delicious French food. My 10 year old son and I recreated the dishes after our class as they were so delicious. Sarala was very flexible with our dietary restrictions and we used amazing substitutes.
