Akrotiri Archaeological Site
Step back nearly 4,000 years of ancient Akrotiri on Santorini. Explore the well-preserved ruins of this one-time Minoan settlement, destroyed by a volcano in around 1450 BC. Inspect the excavated houses and buildings, see the remnants of kitchens and drainage systems, and read about the vivid frescoes that once graced the walls. Learn about the long-ago inhabitants, how their town was buried under ash, and how Minoan society and culture was far ahead of mainland European civilization at the time. Akrotiri, buried under volcanic ash in around 1450 BC. Walk along the main street. Past ruins of shops and houses, some once painted in colorful frescoes. 5.00We did this tour on our first day in Santorini. What a smart decision! Our driver and tour guide, Chris, gave us a fantastic tour. He was thoughtful, kind, and a great photographer! He knew all the perfect photo spots on the island, and he shared his wealth of knowledge of Santorini enthusiastically. I highly recommend this tour, and I highly recommend Chris!!

5.00Ares was an amazing guide. He accommodated our slightly late arrival. The van was top notch and fit all nine of us comfortably. He was knowledgeable about the Island. He dropped is off at Kipos for a wonderful seafood meal. A bonus was an unexpected wine tasting in their cave/cellar.

He was knowledgeable, answered every single question (even the dumb ones), listened to our desired activities and interests, and is personable and friendly. He knew all the perfect spots for amazing pictures and took amazing photos as well. He never rushed us and allowed us to have a personal experience with the island of Santorini. When we arrived, we met our tour guide and by the time we left, we had made a friend.
