Like our Derry tour earlier this year, the Belfast tour October 31th was an incredible experience. No tourist blah, blah tour but proper information, facts and figures but never boring. A lot of background and related facts completing the picture of what was, is , and as well some chances of what might be. Exactly what we wanted and expected after our Derry tour. We will come again to Northern Ireland and for sure we will do a private guided tour again. All questions were answered in a way that even without deep knowledge of what happened,we could understand what happened and why it happened.

My adult daughter and I had an amazing opportunity to spend a day with Michael Cooper as our driver to tour around the Belfast area. We went to Giants Causeway with its stunning views and the Old Bushmills Distillery which was really interesting to see an operational distillery. Michael was a very interesting man with a wealth of information about Northern Ireland. His personal experience starting as a teenager and continuing today as a politician and an author of several books about the history of the country made our discussions about the area so interesting. He was also so open about his family and his day to day life, his music interests, etc. I could have spent days listening to him. I highly recommend spending a day with him.

We have toured with Michael seven times in the last 8 years. We have toured way too many places to list! Sometimes we plan an itinerary and sometimes we rely on Michael to plan an itinerary and many times a combination of the two. His history and political knowledge of both The North and the Republic are simply unmatched. We would NEVER plan another trip without Michael being a major part of it.

Our Belfast tour guide, Jackie, did an amazing job! He is very knowledgeable and packed a TON of information into a short amount of time. He was funny, compassionate and super accommodating to us. We were so very impressed with our tour.

Our cruise got a mid cruise addition of green castle and we decided to take a bus into Derry. My mother has mobility issues and can’t walk a lot so the walking tour was out. I emailed the company and Michael (the owner) emailed back within the hour to offer a 90 min taxi tour and had a time that would work for us. When we got off the ship the next day we found out the bus was heading back much sooner than anticipated and I asked him if we could do it in a hour. Again no problem. I still don’t know how Michael crammed in so much information into the 50 min we were together. His knowledge is second to none. We left feeling like we had not only seen and heard things that we had heard about when they happened and learned a ton. But, truly like we had made a friend. We had two days earlier gone on a black taxi tour in Belfast that was great too but comparing it to this it’s night and day different. We look forward to being able to come back and get the full tour and see the museum that Michael is working on too. If you are looking for a derry tour or thinking maybe you might want to just do it you will not regret it. Michael, thank you again if you read this you went so far above and beyond and this truly was one of if not the highlight of our trip and Derry is at the top of the list of places to go back to in Ireland.

A very interesting tour with two passionate guides that we could tell really cared about their country. If you are a political history buff, You need to take this tour. We saw beautiful areas of Belfast, but also saw the the fascinating conflict that still rages between the Catholics and Protestants, and corruption that still covers up major crimes. Very sad but with hope that the older generations are teaching their kids not to hate. If only this could work everywhere…

Michael took us to see Carrick-a-Rede, Giants Causeway and so much in one day. On the way we enjoyed that it tells us the history of Ireland, Belfast including the explanations of what we were going to visit. All this in French with a charming Irish accent 😉 Really thanks to Michael we were able to do a lot in one day. Without him I would never have been able to do it, let alone in French. Many thanks to him for these wonderful memories 😊

We had the most incredible experience today with Jason and Kieran,! Both were friendly, respectful and extremely knowledgeable pertaining to the country's history and current political environment. The car was clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful fish and chip lunch. We are from New England (coastal) and trust me when I tell you this was fresh, delicious fish. Sunny beautiful day in Northern Ireland.

This was in the top two most enlightening and impactful tours I've done in the 52 countries I've traveled (alongside concentration camps). Our guide and Black Cab driver both had been personally affected by The Troubles and took us to their neighborhoods to see the murals and memorials to the fallen and imprisoned. They personally knew (and in some cases were related to) people on that wall. One guide was shot the same night another young man who died was shot - both by the same person. They did also take us to one of the UFF murals and both sides of the Peace Wall. The tour also included lighter tones of Belfast Castle, the Titanic Museum, City Hall, the Parliament Building, and an arranged lunch and free time. I left this tour with a very different understanding of the other side of The Troubles than what I was exposed to during the 90's. Having personal stories and real people give this tour makes it unforgettable. The company was very flexible working with the overall tour time due to our being on a cruise, and our guide made sure up front we were able to say what we were most interested in and were not. They also surprised us by popping into a couple of convenience stores to buy us local Northern Ireland snacks. I cannot recommend this enough if you want more than a cursory drive around a big city where you see the main monuments. It's a real experience with real people.
