Our guide and driver were waiting at the port gate as arranged even though we were 30 minutes early. We visited 5 sites with a private guide and driver for the same cost as 2 sites as part of a group of 30 to 40 with a ship's tour. Our guide Maha Emam was knowledgeable, efficient and personable, ensuring that the time was focused on our desires, not on a strict timetable. We easily beat the large groups to sites like the Catacombs, walking straight in. As we exited, there was a huge queue, many from our ship's tour group. Our driver Muhammad was safe and sure. Always in exactly the right place to pick us up and move on to the next site. This was such a good experience. I would highly recommend Maha, Muhammad and Elais Tours who communicated with us via WhatsApp, and answered questions very promptly.

We arrived Alexandria by ship with a cruise line, and cruise lines do offer their own tours that are extremely expensive and bland. In addition to the extreme expense, all tours are in groups of 40-50 people. This private tour in a good air conditioned car with a driver and the tour guide costs significantly less and our tour guide Naelah was very receptive to our wishes. We wanted to see some historical sites but we also wanted to see the everyday life of middle-class Egyptians. She took us to several residential neighborhoods, and walked with us on the streets - it was a great immersion program for us! We also got a very deep look at the family dynamics of regular Egyptians, the educational system and healthcare system saw the schools and hospitals. Elias Tours is highly recommended as they can customize the program according to your interests, And have wonderful tour guides like Naelah!

Our private day tour with Mostapha was Excellent! He speaks English and was very informative about the sites we visited! Alexandria is very congested, noisy, and dirty, but Mostapha guided us safely through all the traffic to show us the Catacombes, the Ampitheatre , the Library and the Citadel. He was very engaging from the beginning and we feel like we now have a friend in Alexandria! We had a wonderful day with him and highly recommend his tours !

Alexandria is very busy, noisy and crowded with traffic and people. Our guide Mustapha Made everything easy, taking us into the ancient sites, negotiating the traffic and using his in depth knowledge to explain the history! He was very engaging from the beginning of the tour and very flexible to our wishes on where we wanted to go! We had a very good lunch at a local fish restaurant and he called ahead to get us the best table! We felt like we had made a new friend he was so easy to get along with! I would recommend him to to anyone who appreciates great reliable service!

My husband and I were on a cruise that stopped in Alexandria. We had researched the sites we wanted to visit and had planned on going around on our own. We contacted Viator to hire a driver to take us around to the sites. We received directions to meet our driver outside the gate of the cruise terminal at 9:00. We arrived about 8:30 and Mostapha Kamal was already there waiting for us. He was friendly and spoke English really well. We told him the sites we wanted to visit and he explained that he was also a guide. First, we visited the Kom Al Shokafa Catacombs. We soon realized how lucky we were to have Mostapha as a guide. He took us though the site telling us a lot of information and giving us plenty of time to take pictures and to spend some time on our own. We never felt rushed. It was an amazing place. Next, we visited Pompey’s Pillar. We had read about it, but never realized until we saw it how massive it is. Our next stop was the Roman Amphitheater, the Roman Baths and the Villa of the Birds. We spent quite a bit of time here with Mostapha pointing out the history and some unique information about the sites. Our next stop was the Alexandria Library. It was amazing. The architecture alone is stunning. It’s not just library but is a museum and is full of art. Our final destination was the Citadel of Qaitbay. It’s very impressive with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and the city. We felt very fortunate to have had Mostapha as our guide. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We never felt rushed and had plenty of time to take pictures. My husband and I had originally planned to visit these sites on our own. We have done a lot of traveling through the years and found that we actually see more with a small group or on our own. However, we are so glad we decided to book a driver who was also a guide because of the traffic congestion in the city. We highly recommend Mostapha as a guide. If we return to Egypt we would definitely contact him again. It was a very reasonable price especially when you compare it to what the cruise ships charge for an excursion.
