  • Packed Day and Oh So Great!

We took the overnight train to Lao Cai and the tour company arranged for a driver to take us to Sa Pa to meet our guide. The two water falls were magnificent. We also did the Glass Tower and I’m glad I did as the views were great most of the time (clouds rolled in, and you are in the middle of them!) We ate lunch as a small quaint place in which we could order what we wanted from the menu. The beef pho was okay, spring rolls were good. Our guide SiSi was accommodating as I am 55 and my son who I am traveling with is 20 and can move much faster then I! SiSi shared about the history of the villages. At times, she talked to fast for my brain to compute what she was saying with an accent, but my son had no problems!! I didn’t bring a hat and she shared her umbrella with me, which was very kind as the sun came out, it was hot! Our driver was kind and got us to all of our places safely and even offered to let us explore around Sapa for a couple of hours before returning to the Lao Cai train station, but we were exhausted and decided to get straight to the station. The only thing I would have liked is if he would have used the air conditioning when it got hot in the afternoon. We had the windows down, but the wind made my contacts dry to my eyes and became uncomfortable. I would recommend SiSi to anyone!!

Cici was amazing!!!! She packed so much into a one day trek by car. Having her, we got to see parts of Sapa we never would have gotten to otherwise. Getting to stop in her home village was the highlight for us. 100% would recommend to friends.

Need to be physically able. I struggled a bit as I have arthritis in my knee. But it is an excellent way to see the main parts of the area if you only have a short amount of time to play with.
